With the accelerated application of digital transformation and the development of smart tourism , the image of "Thanh Hoa Tourism - The Beauty of Four Seasons" is increasingly spreading to domestic and international markets. Through this, many destinations and businesses are gradually affirming their professionalism and providing more experiences and amenities for tourists.
With the Smart Travel application, tourists can have a better experience when visiting the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Site.
Last November, Hong Duc University collaborated with the Thanh Hoa City Tourism and Travel Association to organize a training program titled "Enhancing Management Capacity in Tourism in Thanh Hoa Province Based on Digital Transformation Models." The program focused on several key areas, including: building and managing digital marketing activities in tourism; applying digital technologies and innovating tourism products to maximize customer experience; operating tourism business models in the context of digital transformation; and providing digital transformation experience and consulting services for tourism businesses. Through this, the program aimed to guide and support tourism businesses in improving management quality, better utilizing data, more easily reaching customers, and enhancing their competitiveness.
Pham Tien Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City Tourism Association, said: “To date, tourism service businesses in Thanh Hoa City have basically completed the digital transformation in management, product development, and customer outreach. The benefits of digital technology applications have helped travel agencies in particular, and tourism service businesses in general, optimize all operations and better access the customer market. However, the application of digital technology and smart tourism applications still has many limitations. We hope that this training program will be an opportunity for businesses to continue researching and transforming their approach to customer engagement and care through online platforms and digital technology. The goal is to use smart tourism applications and develop high-quality products to optimize the experience for tourists.”
To date, most tourism businesses in the province have implemented websites or social media pages to promote their image and products; and accept cashless online payments. Four- and five-star accommodations have adopted management software, integrating amenities such as rooms, dining, swimming pools, and other services into a single room key card. This allows customers to proactively utilize services while reducing staffing needs and ensuring tight control at every stage.
General Manager, Melia Hotel
Vinpearl Thanh Hoa's Ngo Huu Nhut stated: "We have applied digital technology to all aspects, from human resource management to customer service. Currently, all check-in and check-out procedures are conducted quickly and conveniently through the Staff app & Esign software. When guests check in, they are provided with a room card that fully integrates the services they have registered for and will use during their stay. Guests only need to scan the card to go to the correct floor they registered for; at the same time, using services such as spa, swimming, gym, breakfast, etc., will no longer require registration or declaring room number information as before. This provides guests with privacy and convenience, helps the hotel reduce staff, and improves service quality."
To truly make digital transformation a new driving force for tourism development, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively coordinated with relevant departments and units to implement digitalization and the Smart Travel application at 8 tourist areas and destinations (Lam Kinh Historical Site, Ho Dynasty Citadel Cultural Heritage Site, Nua Temple - Am Tien Historical and Cultural Site, Pu Luong Community Ecotourism Area, Ban Ma Community Ecotourism Area, May Waterfall, Song Son Temple, Cua Dat Temple). Simultaneously, 71 tourist areas and destinations and 25 tourist accommodation establishments have been digitized and updated on the Thanh Hoa province tourism management and database application software (at http://csdl.thanhhoa.travel). Nearly 1,000 news articles, videos, and images promoting "Thanh Hoa Tourism - The Beauty of Four Seasons" have been posted on the Thanh Hoa province tourism website (at http://thanhhoa.travel). Additionally, tourists can access the Thanh Hoa tourism portal (http://dulichthanhhoa.org) to learn more about tourism products, itineraries, and provide feedback on tourism quality.
Aiming to improve service quality and develop smart tourism, Thanh Hoa province has been focusing on implementing several solutions such as: perfecting mechanisms and policies for smart tourism development; building a tourism database; deploying smart tourism applications at tourist areas and destinations; and promoting tourism on digital media platforms. Along with this, tourism businesses in the province need to be more proactive in applying tourism applications and software in management and product development based on digital platforms, contributing to enhancing the experience, convenience, and satisfaction of tourists when using services.
