Over the past week, numerous posts and videos have appeared on Facebook and TikTok claiming that Egypt offers visa-free entry to Vietnamese tourists, requiring only a passport and making it as easy to enter as other Southeast Asian countries that also offer visa-free travel. These posts were primarily made by people working in the tourism industry.

This information quickly attracted significant attention from those interested in Egyptian tourism, as this North African country is already a dream destination for many Vietnamese tourists, boasting world- famous wonders, ancient civilizations, and numerous iconic structures.

However, Egypt does not grant visa-free entry to Vietnamese citizens . According to the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam, from May 21st, Vietnamese citizens will be granted a visa on arrival.

Tourists only need to possess a Vietnamese passport valid for more than 6 months and pay a fee of 25 USD at the airport of the destination country to be granted a visa for a maximum stay of 30 days. This method eliminates the risk of being denied entry at the airport.

In cases where travelers wish to apply for a visa in advance to secure their trip, the Embassy will still guide them through the application process as usual.

Previously, tourists typically submitted their visa applications at the Embassy a month in advance to allow time for additional documents, with a common processing time of about two weeks. For tourists from Ho Chi Minh City, the process may take longer because the Egyptian Embassy is located in Hanoi .

In addition to visa stickers, according to the regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Vietnamese citizens wishing to apply for a visa on arrival in Egypt must have a valid visa from countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand... or the Schengen Area.

The visa on arrival is characterized by a simple and quick application process, requiring no prior document preparation, saving time, and avoiding the risk of losing your passport when sending it by mail. However, this type of visa only applies to entry by air. At the airport, travelers must wait for their application to be processed.

Vietnamese travelers planning to visit Egypt should contact the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam for detailed guidance or proactively verify directly with the airline regarding check-in requirements and accepted entry documents.

Additionally, if it's your first time traveling to North Africa, you should consider going on a tour so that the travel company can assist you with your paperwork.
