After two years, Hai Van Pass has completed its restoration and reopened to welcome tourists. This time, it is not only the most magnificent pass in the world, where visitors can admire the scenery, but also offers profound and unique historical experiences through a technological lens… in the real and digital worlds simultaneously.
Physital Labs, together with the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center and the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Information Technology Center, recently introduced and launched a multi-interactive experiential tourism solution at Hai Van Pass.
Accordingly, Physital Labs has digitized 3D travel maps, creating a cultural exploration journey through stories and check-in tasks at 9 special locations, offering a captivating travel experience every step of the way.
The 3D digital map recreates the majestic natural scenery of Hai Van Pass, allowing visitors to admire and explore the rich history of the structure in detail, from its formation to important historical events.
Digital technology has helped Hai Van Pass transcend the boundaries of space and time, bringing the heritage experience between the real and digital worlds in a complete way, whether walking there or through the actions on a smartphone.
Upon arrival, visitors simply need to use their smartphones to tap the NFC-enabled check-in boards at the attractions, thereby instantly accessing information about each area, historical events, and cultural value of each point within Hai Van Pass.
“The technology we apply to Hue's heritage sites addresses three core issues: firstly, a check-in system that gives tourists a sense of accomplishment when they receive badges and rankings, motivating them to share their achievements with the community; secondly, each tourist's sharing becomes media content, attracting young people to explore the heritage and spreading positive values; and thirdly, it helps expand the tourism ecosystem through a system of exchanging badges for rewards from partners, enhancing user experience and promoting the participation of local businesses,” said Huy Nguyen, CEO of Phygital Labs.
This interaction not only provides information but also allows visitors to truly immerse themselves in the flow of history, vividly feeling each moment of time, because the 3D digital tourist map opens up the possibility of remote exploration, allowing users to interact with 9 important historical sites of Hai Van Pass from anywhere in the world.
To immerse themselves in both the real and digital worlds when visiting Hai Van Pass, tourists simply need to tap their smartphones at the check-in points. NFC communication on the smartphone will allow visitors to explore vivid historical and cultural stories…
Understanding the need for check-ins and sharing, Physital Labs, in collaboration with the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center and the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Information Technology Center, has developed a nine-point itinerary. Upon completing all nine points, visitors will receive a digital badge – a digital certificate for their journey. This badge is not only a unique souvenir but also proof that visitors have officially conquered the "World's Most Magnificent Pass," allowing them to share their experience with friends and family via social media and websites.
“We see enormous potential in combining technology with culturally significant locations, so we will expand the Hai Van Pass model to thousands of other landmarks across the country. This demonstrates how technology can breathe new life into traditional values, making them more vibrant, accessible, and clearly showing how digital transformation creates many new values,” Mr. Huy Nguyen further shared.
