Passionate about clean highland coffee beans
“I was a soldier on Truong Sa, attached to the island from 1985 to 1989. The soldiers on the island at that time had difficulties and lacked everything, no one knew what coffee tasted like. Luckily, when I left the army, I have been involved in the coffee processing profession ever since,” shared Mr. Vo Hung, a veteran of Truong Sa, Director of Vo Hung Coffee Production and Service Company Limited (Vo Hung Company). That soldier, after the heroic years of his youth, has attached his life to one of the largest coffee granaries in Vietnam: Lam Dong .

Mr. Hung said that coffee from the lands bearing the brands Cau Dat, Lam Ha, Di Linh was born from the sun, wind and mist. He shared that at the coffee exporting enterprises he used to work for, the quality of Lam Dong coffee beans was always highly appreciated by customers and roasters. The quality of highland coffee is stable, but most farmers as well as many enterprises mainly dry and sell raw green coffee beans. Therefore, his concern is how to improve the quality and brand of highland coffee beans.
In 2017, he built the Vo Hung coffee brand with the goal of making the final coffee product, providing it to consumers. Therefore, deep processing and enhancing the value of coffee is the goal of Vo Hung Company. “Currently, we are producing and processing many different coffee products, from green coffee beans, ground coffee to paper filter coffee. Paper filter coffee is the product we make with the goal of occupying a small niche in the coffee market, which is supplying office workers and serving tourists . With our paper filter coffee, customers only need to open the filter, pour boiling water to have a perfect cup of coffee,” Mr. Hung shared.
To have the highest quality coffee, Vo Hung Company has closely cooperated with farmers, recommending farmers to cultivate according to VietGAP process and pick ripe coffee.
Export orientation
Having been involved in the coffee industry for many years, Mr. Vo Hung affirmed that it is necessary to build a brand and geographical indication for Lam Dong coffee, the value of coffee beans will increase, creating prestige with domestic and foreign customers. Therefore, he is also a member of the Steering Committee for the establishment of geographical indications for Lam Dong coffee. "My wish is to build a strong coffee community, clean production, deep processing, and build a sustainable coffee industry," he shared. "We export coffee to the Japanese and Korean markets and are targeting Muslim and Middle Eastern customers. Each market and customer has a different taste in coffee and businesses must grasp it to orient production," Mr. Hung informed.

Currently, the company's capacity reaches 20 tons of coffee per month, paper filter coffee, ground coffee as well as green coffee beans have been exported under the Vo Hung brand. This is the motivation and also the opportunity for the business to continue to grow. Mr. Vo Hung also said that he received a lot of support from the Department of Science and Technology of Lam Dong as well as management agencies in terms of information, administrative procedures as well as funding. The support of state management agencies creates confidence for businesses to continue to strive, grow, and conquer further horizons.
