DTO - On January 15 (December 16, Giap Thin year), at Hoa Long Pagoda (Ward 4, Cao Lanh City), the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Dong Thap province held a ceremony to launch the Office of the Executive Committee of the VBS in Dong Thap province, hand over the Ordination Decree for the 2024 Clergy and announce the Decision to appoint the Abbot of Hoa Long Pagoda.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Elder Thich Nhat Quang - member of the Central Council of Evidence, the Provincial Executive Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Elder Thich Phuoc Thong - member of the Central Council of Evidence, the Provincial Executive Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Tinh Triet - member of the Central Council of Evidence, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Also attending were Comrade Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee Office, provincial departments, branches, sectors, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Cao Lanh City Party Committee and local authorities.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Minh Son - Chief Secretary of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha read Official Dispatch No. 516 dated December 23, 2024 of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the relocation of the Office of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province. Official Dispatch No. 38 dated January 14, 2025 of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province on the approval of the change of the headquarters of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province. Accordingly, the Office of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province was relocated from Buu Quang Pagoda (No. 459, Ward 1, Sa Dec City, Dong Thap Province) to Hoa Long Pagoda (Ward 4, Cao Lanh City). At the same time, the Decision of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province to appoint the abbot of Hoa Long Pagoda (Ward 4, Cao Lanh City) was read. Accordingly, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province decided to appoint Most Venerable Thich Tinh Triet, secular name Tran Thanh Binh (born in 1967), to hold the position of Abbot of Hoa Long Pagoda (Ward 4, Cao Lanh City).

Besides, Most Venerable Elder Thich Phuoc Thong - member of the Central Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Provincial Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha announced the Decision of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council to ordain 29 Buddhist clergy of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Thap province. Among them, there are 6 Most Venerable Monks, 6 Most Venerables, 9 Most Venerable Nuns, and 8 Most Venerable Nuns.
At the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Van Thang, together with representatives of provincial departments, branches, sectors, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and local authorities presented flowers to congratulate the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Hoa Long Pagoda. In addition, delegates performed the ceremony to launch the Office of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at Hoa Long Pagoda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Most Venerable Elder Thich Nhat Quang - member of the Central Council of the Sangha, the Sangha Executive Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha congratulated those who were ordained as monks. He also congratulated the Office of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee on moving to Hoa Long Pagoda; and congratulated Most Venerable Thich Tinh Triet on being appointed as abbot of Hoa Long Pagoda. Most Venerable Elder Thich Nhat Quang hopes that the new abbot of Hoa Long Pagoda will strive to maintain and preserve the religious assets of the church; and manage Buddhist affairs well so that Hoa Long Pagoda will become more and more prosperous in the future.
