Ranked 18th in the world , Nguyen Thuy Linh - the reigning champion and also the number one female tennis player in Vietnam - is officially seeded number 1 in the women's singles at the Vietnam Open 2025 badminton tournament (Super 100). This is the highest ranking of Linh's career, and also helps her become the most outstanding tennis player in this year's tournament.

Thuy Linh entered the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open 2025 with a special mindset: not only to defend her three-time consecutive championship, but also to consolidate her position on the world rankings. Previously, the tennis player from Phu Tho had just made her mark by reaching the third round of the world championship in France - the best achievement of her career.

According to the draw, Linh will meet Liang Ting Yu (Chinese Taipei, ranked 68th) in the opening round. If she goes further, the most formidable opponent in the bracket is the fourth seed Kaphyap (India, ranked 46th). In case she advances to the final, Thuy Linh could face Lalinlar Chaiwan (Thailand, ranked 43rd), a player who has repeatedly caused difficulties for the region's top stars.

This year’s tournament brings together 295 players from 35 countries and territories, taking place from September 9 to 14 at Nguyen Du Gymnasium (HCMC). In addition to Thuy Linh, Vietnamese badminton also has Nguyen Hai Dang (number 7 seed in men’s singles), Le Duc Phat, along with veteran players such as Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang.

Although the journey to defend the “Queen” title promises to be full of challenges in the face of strong competition from many players from India, Korea, China, and Thailand, Nguyen Thuy Linh’s stable performance and enthusiastic support from the Ho Chi Minh City audience still help her to be considered the most promising candidate for the championship. This is also an opportunity for her to continue to affirm her position as the number one player in Vietnamese women’s badminton in the international arena.
