Midfielder Thuy Trang goes to Portugal to play?

Midfielder Tran Thi Thuy Trang said she received an invitation from Lank FC to play in the Portuguese Women's League.

Writing on her Facebook on July 31, midfielder Thuy Trang said she received an invitation from Lank FC - the team that Huynh Nhu played for last season.

However, what makes her hesitate to decide is because she is old (35 years old), afraid that she will not be able to keep up with the high level of the Portuguese Women's Championship.

"No matter what Trang's final decision is, this is the greatest honor of Trang's life. Trang will always cherish and thank them for the respect and trust they have given Trang," she wrote.

Thuy Trang is a key midfielder for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club and the Vietnam national team. However, at the 2023 Women's World Cup, Thuy Trang has not been used by coach Mai Duc Chung in the two losses to defending champions the United States 0-3 and Portugal 0-2.

This is understandable because at the age of 35, Thuy Trang will find it difficult to compete at high intensity against much stronger opponents. However, she will most likely be used by coach Mai Duc Chung in the final match of the 2023 Women's World Cup against the current runner-up Netherlands at 2:00 p.m. today (August 1).

However, Lank FC scouts noticed Thuy Trang not at the World Cup but from her outstanding and consistent performance over the past time.

After the 2022-2023 season, some of Lank FC 's midfield pillars left. Therefore, the team targeted Thuy Trang after witnessing another Vietnamese player, striker Huynh Nhu, make her mark before.

Huynh Nhu is also negotiating a new contract with Lank FC after her old contract expired. If Thuy Trang and Huynh Nhu both play at Lank FC, this will be a much-anticipated reunion for the two Vietnamese girls and Vietnamese women's football.
