Assessment of durian prices today, April 13, 2025

The price of durian on April 13, 2025 is currently quite stable, with no major changes, so both buyers and sellers are feeling more comfortable. If you don't know much about economics , imagine this: the price of durian is like the price of an item at the market, depending on the quantity of fruit and how much people want to buy. Today, the price of durian in major regions such as the Southwestern, Southeastern, and Central Highlands regions remains at a good level, enough to make farmers happy and buyers not have to worry about excessively high prices.

In the Southwestern region of Vietnam, durian prices on April 13, 2025, are leading the country. High-quality Ri6 durians are priced at around 140,000 - 144,000 VND/kg, while mixed (unsorted) durians are cheaper, ranging from 60,000 - 70,000 VND/kg. High-quality Thai durians are also fetching good prices, around 177,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, while mixed durians range from 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. Simply put, the Mekong Delta has an abundance of delicious durians, resulting in stable prices and consistently high-quality fruit.

In the Southeast region of Vietnam, durian prices on April 13, 2025 were similar to those in the Mekong Delta, with only slight differences. High-quality Ri6 durians were priced at 140,000 - 144,000 VND/kg, while lower-quality ones cost 60,000 - 70,000 VND/kg. High-quality Thai durians were slightly more expensive, around 178,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, while lower-quality ones were cheaper, ranging from 65,000 - 78,000 VND/kg. This region is renowned for its quality durians, so these prices are reasonable.

In the Central Highlands, durian prices on April 13, 2025 were slightly lower. High-quality Ri6 durians still cost 140,000 - 144,000 VND/kg, but the lower-quality ones were more expensive than in the Mekong Delta and Southeast region, around 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. High-quality Thai durians here cost 170,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, while the lower-quality ones, similar to those in the Eastern region, cost around 65,000 - 78,000 VND/kg. Despite the slightly lower prices, the Central Highlands remains a major supplier of delicious durians nationwide.

Overall, durian prices on April 13, 2025 are at a reasonable level, neither skyrocketing nor plummeting. This means there is still plenty of durian available, people can buy and eat it freely, and growers are making a profit. If you like durian, this is a good time to enjoy it, especially the Thai or Ri6 varieties, as the price is stable and the quality is excellent!

Durian price news on April 13, 2025

The price of durian on April 13, 2025, in many areas is causing considerable concern for durian growers. Since the beginning of April, durian prices have continuously fallen, making it difficult for farmers like Ms. Nguyen Thi My Linh in Tan Phong commune, Cai Lay district, Tien Giang province. With over 1 hectare of Thai and Ri6 durian trees, Ms. Linh has harvested several times since the beginning of the year. The most recent harvest, about three weeks ago, fetched 80,000 VND/kg, but now the price has dropped sharply to only about 40,000 VND/kg for Ri6 and 60,000 VND/kg for Thai durian. At this price, she and many other households are barely making a profit.

In Tan Phong commune, the current durian harvest is not abundant, but prices remain low. Local residents share that the upcoming main harvest season may be even more difficult if durian prices do not improve by April 13, 2025. Many growers are worried because prices fluctuate erratically and are difficult to predict.

The situation in Cai Be district is no better. Mr. Huynh Thanh Nha, a long-time durian buyer, said that durian prices on April 13, 2025, had dropped significantly compared to the previous month. Currently, Ri6 durian at the farm gate is only 35,000 - 40,000 VND/kg, while Thai durian ranges from 60,000 - 65,000 VND/kg. A month ago, the price of Grade A Thai durian reached 120,000 - 125,000 VND/kg, and Grade A Ri6 durian was around 80,000 - 85,000 VND/kg. Now, the sharp price drop has caused many wholesalers to temporarily stop buying, with only a few places accepting Thai durian, while Ri6 durian is still being sold retail in markets, so consumption is slightly better.

The reason for the drop in durian prices on April 13, 2025, is due to a slight increase in supply. In Dong Thap and Can Tho , durian harvesting is in full swing, while other provinces in the Eastern region are also about to start a new season. When there is an abundance of fruit but demand doesn't increase, traders often propose price reductions, putting farmers in a difficult position. However, for those currently growing durian, there is still hope if the market recovers in the near future. But currently, low prices are a major challenge for them.
