Despite a shaky group stage, England U21 proved their class at the right time to overcome Spain U21 with an impressive 3-1 victory thanks to goals from McAtee, Elliott, and Anderson. They then faced the Netherlands U21, a team that had just delivered a convincing performance against Portugal U21, despite playing with ten men for much of the match. In terms of form, both England U21 and the Netherlands U21 have shown quite similar performances recently, with 3 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in their last 5 matches.

England's attack performed better, scoring a total of 11 goals, but the Netherlands' U21 team also had its own strength: a solid defense, conceding only 4 goals in 5 matches. In the past, England and the Netherlands have met a total of 6 times. Notably, only one match ended in a victory for the Netherlands, while the other 5 ended in a draw. In terms of squad strength, Lee Carsley's team was considered slightly superior, with England possessing promising attacking stars like James McAtee (Manchester City), Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), and Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal). Not overwhelmingly superior to their opponents, England's U21 team found it difficult to overcome the team from the land of tulips. However, the "Young Three Lions" roared at the right moment to finish off their opponents.

Entering the semi-final, England U21 had an advantage over the Netherlands U21, boasting a squad with many stars playing in the English Premier League. The "Little Lions" took the initiative with great enthusiasm. However, the Netherlands U21 showed they were not easily intimidated. With many quality players in their squad and an extremely tenacious playing style, the "Little Lions" caused the "Little Lions" considerable difficulties. Throughout the first half, both teams played cautiously, mainly probing each other's defenses and not launching full-scale attacks. Therefore, the first half ended in a 0-0 draw.

Entering the second half, the England U21 team made no secret of their intention to finish off their opponents in regular time. The "Young Three Lions" proactively launched a variety of attacks. After nearly 20 minutes of holding firm, the Netherlands U21 team had to accept a goal in the 63rd minute, when midfielder Harvey Elliott capitalized on an opportunity to give England U21 the lead.

Refusing to accept defeat, the Netherlands U21 team quickly showed their inherent resilience. Less than 10 minutes after conceding, in the 72nd minute, Noah Ohio scored the equalizer for the Netherlands U21 team, bringing the game back to square one. However, in a brilliant performance, Harvey Elliott scored his second goal in the 86th minute to seal a 2-1 victory, securing the "Young Three Lions" a place in the European U21 Championship final.

With this victory, the "Young Three Lions" have shown they are fully worthy of inheriting the legacy of their predecessors. Their defeat against the U21 team in the group stage was just a "minor setback." After luckily securing a place in the next round, the "Young Three Lions" have asserted their strength against formidable opponents and are ready to defend the title their predecessors won in 2023.
