TikToker Mr Pips financial fraud: Additional defendants prosecuted

On December 9, on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Hanoi People's Council, a leader of the Hanoi People's Procuracy said that the unit is coordinating with the City Police to expand and investigate a cyber fraud ring involving Pho Duc Nam (30 years old, residing in Ba Ria - Vung Tau , also known as TikToker Mr Pips).

According to this person, the People's Procuracy of Cau Giay District ( Hanoi ) previously decided to approve the prosecution of the accused Pho Duc Nam, Le Khac Ngo (34 years old, residing in Hanoi ) and 24 others for the crimes of Fraudulent appropriation of property, Failure to report a crime and Money Laundering. After receiving the investigation, the Hanoi City Police prosecuted a number of other accused.

"This group of people organized fraud following the model of stock brokerage companies. Once victims were lured in, they could not withdraw. Up to now, the authorities are still continuing to investigate and find victims to reach a final conclusion," said this leader.

Regarding those prosecuted, this person said that Hanoi City Police will soon hold a press conference to provide detailed information about the incident.

Previously, the Hanoi People's Procuracy was coordinating with the Hanoi Police to continue to expand the investigation into the online fraud ring. Currently, the total assets seized and frozen by the authorities are about more than 5,000 billion VND.

The authorities have decided to prosecute the case and prosecute Pho Duc Nam (aka Tiktoker Mr Pips; born in 1994, residing in Ward 8, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province); Le Khac Ngo (born in 1990, residing in Phu Dien Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi City) and 24 other defendants for the crimes of "Fraudulent appropriation of property", "Failure to report a crime" and "Money laundering" as prescribed in Articles 174, 390 and 324 of the Penal Code.

Tiktoker Mr Pips (Pho Duc Nam) is famous for his videos posting about his luxurious life and teaching how to make money, with hundreds of thousands of followers on Tiktok and Youtube.
