On March 11, the launch ceremony of the Imagine Cup Junior 2024 competition took place in Hanoi . This is a global competition for high school students from 5 to 18 years old. The competition aims to encourage young people to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to support and change complex human problems.
The contest is jointly organized by Microsoft Vietnam, Aptech International Programmer Training System, InterEdu and the Department of Information Technology (Ministry ofEducation & Training).
One of the main goals of the competition is to promote a love of technology, while also encouraging students to come up with ideas to solve real-life problems. These can be major challenges in the world such as climate change, health issues, protecting cultural heritage, supporting people with disabilities, etc.
This is the third consecutive year that the Imagine Cup Junior 2024 competition has been held in Vietnam. The best teams will be sent to the Imagine Cup Junior competition, which is organized by Microsoft globally. In two consecutive years 2022 and 2023, Vietnam has had teams in the top 10 in the world.
According to the organizers, when participating in the competition, students will be introduced to the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and network security.
The rapid development of AI is reshaping the world and the way people think and work. To prepare for the future, high school students need to be equipped with the skills to adapt to rapid changes in technology.
As a result, the competition has added a lesson on Generative AI to its AI for Good theme for 13-18 year olds. The Imagine Cup Junior 2024 also has a theme specifically for 5-12 year olds called Tech for Good , which includes lessons specifically designed for beginners.
In addition to the launching ceremony, the program also includes training and coaching activities with AI courses taught directly by experts from Aptech Group. This is the AI course with the largest number of participants ever, with more than 2,000 students from primary, secondary and high schools nationwide.
Mr. To Hong Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technology (Ministry of Education and Training) hopes that the contest will arouse the passion for exploring and applying technology, especially artificial intelligence technology, in students, aiming to shape the personality of future digital citizens.
