Recently, according to the Economic Daily News , the CEO of Largan Precision – a familiar camera lens supplier for Apple – has hinted that the official release date of the foldable iPhone will be delayed.
" Some new opportunities will be announced in Q3, while some projects will be postponed to early next year ," said Enping Lin, CEO of Largan Precision, at a shareholder meeting.
In addition, Ruan Chaozong, General Manager of Xinrixing – the company believed to be manufacturing the hinges for the foldable iPhone – also made some noteworthy comments. Specifically, Chaozong stated that Xinrixing is still waiting for Apple to finalize the official delivery date.
According to AppleInsider , the collaboration between these two companies further strengthens the hypothesis that the mysterious device is indeed Apple's foldable phone.
Apple is likely to introduce a foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September of this year, although some rumors suggest the release date might be delayed until December.
Previously, some sources also suggested that the device might only be released in extremely limited quantities, a "scarcity" strategy that Apple previously employed with the first generation of AirPods.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, the iPhone Fold will feature a 5.3-inch outer screen and a 7.7-inch inner screen. The size of the inner screen could be approximately the same as the iPad mini, while the outer screen will be comparable to a smaller iPhone.
Apple plans to use a 4:3 aspect ratio for the inner screen, meaning the iPhone Fold will have a shape similar to an iPad when unfolded, being longer and wider but narrower than most foldable smartphones currently available.
The iPhone Fold is expected to be 4.5 mm thin when unfolded. To achieve this, Apple is said to have to compromise on some features. The device will not have a telephoto camera, will remove Face ID in favor of Touch ID, and integrate it into the power button like the iPad.
