According to the latest information from Ross Young, an expert at Display Supply Chain Consultants , the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air models launching next year will be equipped with displays featuring 120Hz ProMotion technology.

This means that the screens of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air (the thinnest iPhone model expected to replace the iPhone 17 Plus) will be able to increase refresh rates up to 120Hz to provide a smoother scrolling experience and better video viewing when needed.
ProMotion will also allow the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air displays to reduce to a more power-efficient refresh rate.
The iPhone 13 Pro models can reduce the refresh rate to 10Hz, while the iPhone 14 Pro to iPhone 16 Pro models can reduce it to 1Hz, allowing for an Always-On Display with lock screen information even when the device is locked.
However, it is unclear whether the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will drop to 10Hz or 1Hz.
For comparison, the recently released iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models still use screens with a 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the ProMotion display is only available on the "Pro" models.
Ross Young is known as a highly accurate source for information regarding the displays of new Apple products.
Before the iPhone 16 series was released, Young was the first to reveal that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would have larger screens, measuring 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series in September next year.
