However, while the whole country is uniting to support people in disaster-stricken areas, hostile forces and political opportunists are exploiting the situation on social media to conspire to create another "storm," aiming to disrupt information, divide national unity, and erode people's trust in the Party and the State, especially on the eve of the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Another tactic of exploiting natural disasters to distort the truth.
Over the past 2.5 months, Vietnam has repeatedly had to cope with typhoons, especially typhoons No. 10 and No. 11, which caused historic flooding, resulting in serious damage to lives and property, and impacting economic growth and people's lives. Taking advantage of this situation, hostile forces and political opportunists are repeating their old tactics of spreading harmful information to sow panic and erode public trust, similar to scenarios seen during the Covid-19 pandemic or Super Typhoon Yagi…
Focusing on the losses and suffering caused by the floods, distorted narratives claim that the people in the flood-affected areas are not receiving attention and support. However, in recent days, the people of the entire country have provided a powerful answer. The list of organizations and individuals supporting those affected by the natural disaster continues to grow longer, trucks carrying goods and necessities overcome numerous difficulties to gather love from all corners of the country to the flood-stricken areas, and words of encouragement, concern, and sharing for the people remain abundant on social media. Without faith, solidarity, and a sense of brotherhood, such noble deeds would be impossible. And the greater the hardship and difficulty, the stronger the sense of brotherhood becomes, and the unwavering faith in the Party and the State grows, something no force can divide or destroy.
Under the leadership of the Party, with the efforts of the entire political system, the involvement of ministries, agencies, forces, localities, and the people, we have done our utmost to respond promptly and effectively, contributing to reducing damage caused by natural disasters. The Government and the Prime Minister have issued documents and directly instructed ministries, agencies, and localities to mobilize all resources and apply solutions to prevent, combat, and quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters; and to quickly restore labor, production, education, and stabilize people's lives.
In particular, resources have been urgently deployed to help localities overcome the consequences of floods and heavy rains. This includes Decision No. 2171/QD-TTg dated October 2, 2025, of the Prime Minister, providing support from the central government's contingency budget for 2025 to several localities to overcome the consequences of Typhoon No. 10 and other natural disasters from the beginning of 2025. Specifically, 2,524 billion VND from the central government's contingency budget for 2025 will be allocated to 15 localities to support people's livelihoods, repair dikes, irrigation reservoirs, disaster prevention works, essential infrastructure, and resettle people in areas urgently affected by Typhoon No. 10 and other natural disasters from the beginning of 2025.
In addition to grasping the situation and providing timely, decisive, and practical guidance, the Party and State leaders have directly inspected the situation, inquired about the lives of the people, checked on and encouraged the forces on duty responding to floods, rescuing and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters, and supplying essential goods to the people.
The storm and floods have passed, but human kindness remains.
Along with state resources, and upholding the fine tradition and culture of "mutual support," other resources continue to be mobilized to share the difficulties faced by people in flood-affected areas. In recent days, the Administrative Management and Social Order Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police has organized the collection and transportation of approximately 30 tons of goods and essential supplies to support the northern provinces severely damaged by floods. About a week after its launch, the donation campaign has spread strongly, attracting a large number of people to participate and directly bring goods to provide assistance.
Despite continuously spreading false information and fake news related to floods and storms to incite the public and divide national unity, these misguided and harmful voices cannot create a "storm" on social media, because in times of difficulty and loss, national solidarity and brotherhood shine even brighter.
During the flag-raising ceremony on October 13th, the staff, teachers, and students of Le Van Tam Primary School (Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai Province) joined hands to support the people affected by the storms and floods. Some students brought their piggy banks to donate to their compatriots and friends in the North.
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, the school's Head Teacher in charge of the Youth Union, before launching the campaign to support flood victims, the school organized a viewing of realistic photos of the flood situation and the damage suffered by people in the affected provinces and cities, including children their own age. Alongside these were images of police officers and soldiers assisting in rescuing people and helping them overcome the consequences of the floods. These realistic and vivid images inspired a spirit of mutual support and a sense of community, helping the students better understand and contribute with empathy and compassion.
Recently, the Trade Union of Grand Gain Footwear Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (in Dong Xoai Ward, Dong Nai Province) donated over 110 million VND through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province. Ms. Thai Thi Huyen, Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, stated: "Through media coverage, we learned about the immense damage caused by storms and floods to people in several provinces and cities. The company's Trade Union launched a fundraising campaign and received enthusiastic support from numerous union members and employees. Each contribution from the employees not only has material value but also provides spiritual motivation, hoping that people in the affected areas will soon overcome difficulties and return to their normal lives."
Joining hands with the whole country, Dong Nai province has been reaching out to the people of provinces and cities affected by storms and floods with practical and meaningful acts of sharing. This shows that people nationwide are always ready to share and support each other, especially in times of difficulty and hardship, further affirming the strength of the great national unity; reflecting the trust and social consensus on the policies of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
