Lam Dong province changes investment form for Port project...

On September 24, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee informed that the Government Office has just issued Official Dispatch No. 9014 on investment in Phan Thiet Airport project - civil aviation category.

Considering the proposal of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province to terminate the BOT investment form under the Law on Investment under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, and switch to the investment form under the Law on Investment for the Phan Thiet Airport project - civil aviation category, the Government Office informs that the People's Council of Lam Dong province and the People's Committee of the province have the authority to terminate the project contract, the authority to decide on the investment policy, and adjust the investment policy of the Phan Thiet Airport project - civil aviation category.

The Provincial People's Committee shall, based on legal provisions, terminate the project contract, approve the investment policy, and approve adjustments to the investment policy of this project within its authority and in compliance with legal provisions.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction, according to their assigned functions and tasks, coordinate and guide the People's Committee of Lam Dong province in the implementation process.

Phan Thiet Airport Project started in 2015, including 2 categories: military and civil. The civil part is upgraded from a 4C to a 4E airport, with a 3,050m runway and a designed capacity of 2 million passengers per year by 2030.

Previously, in July 2025, Sun Airport Joint Stock Company sent a document to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province requesting an investment proposal for the Phan Thiet Airport Project, for the civil aviation category. The company proposed to convert the project's investment form from BOT to business investment form according to the provisions of the Investment Law.

In addition, some special public assets of Phan Thiet airport are used jointly by the military and civil sectors, ensuring effective exploitation of invested assets.
