Internet speed sets new world record

Researchers recorded a data transmission speed of 301 Tb/s with just one fiber optic cable, 4.5 million times higher than the current one.

According to Ofcom's September 2023 announcement, the average global home broadband speed is 69.4 Mbps. The new record beats this figure by 4.5 million times, allowing the average 70GB 4K movie to be downloaded in just two seconds.

This is the result of a collaborative research group from the Aston AIPT Institute of Photonics Technology (UK), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) of Japan and the Nokia Bell Laboratories of the US. The group of scientists used optical fibers (small glass tubes) capable of transmitting information by light and reaching speeds that copper cables cannot meet. Combined with that is the opening of new wavelengths that have never been used in the current fiber optic system. Different wavelength bands correspond to different colors of light transmitted down the optical fiber.

According to the research team, the data transmission speed can reach the above number thanks to the newly developed optical processing device.

Meanwhile, leading the team rankings on the UIM F1H2O scoring system is the Binh Dinh - Vietnam team with a total score of 72 points. Top 2 and 3 are respectively Sharjah Team of Rusty Wyatt and Victoria Team of Erik Stark with a total score of 57 points.

At the press conference, Mr. Nicolo di San Germano - founder of H2O Racing, said: "I hope there will be a Vietnamese national championship , I hope that is the right approach. We are very proud to support and contribute to upcoming projects in Vietnam".

According to the organizers, the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024 race has ended, the journey to find the throne of the UIM F1H2O World Championship in the remaining 6 stages includes: Grand Prix Of Italy (Olbia, Italy, June 14 to 16); Europe (July 5); Grand Prix Of China (September 20 to 24); Grand Prix Of China 2 (September 27 to 29); Asia (November); Road To Sharjah - Grand Prix Of Sharjah (Sharjah, UAE, December 2024).

“Godzilla x Kong” shocks the box office

Canadian government plans to pay for most popular contraceptives for 9 million women

The Canadian government plans to pay for the most common contraceptive methods for the country's 9 million women, such as birth control pills, IUDs and implants.

Canadian women will be able to choose the contraceptive method that suits their needs, with the cost covered by the public health insurance program, according to a health care reform announced by the Canadian government on March 30.

Specifically, public health insurance will cover the most common contraceptive methods such as birth control pills, emergency contraceptive pills, IUDs, and contraceptive implants for 9 million Canadian women of childbearing age.

It's part of a reform announced in February that, if completed, would be the biggest expansion of Canada's public health insurance system.
