After episode 2 of Rap Viet season 3, social media erupted in outrage when contestant Alen (also known as Megashock) was not allowed to advance despite being selected by Thai VG.

Alen's performance was highly praised, with his fastflow and storytelling skills standing out.

In terms of content, the story is very profound, the lyrics tell the story of a couple's divorce, leading to the tragedy of their child: "Does the son want to go with his father or his mother?"

Alen performed his rap song "Against the Flow of Tears," inspired by the beat of "Suddenly Wanting to Cry," at Rap Viet Season 3.

He shared that this was his own story and the reason he wrote this song was to express feelings he had long been unable to say. His expressive style also moved many viewers, who empathized with his performance. Coach Thai VG even compared him to a "legend" of Vietnamese rap – Khanh Nho.

However, Alen was ultimately eliminated from the show after receiving only 48% of the audience vote in the studio. According to the rules of season 3, contestants needed to receive over 50% of the votes to advance.

"When the screen showed only 48% of the votes, I felt sad and a little disappointed," Alen shared.

Not only Thai VG, but judge Karik was also very impressed with Alen's performance and declared that he would choose this contestant if he were still a coach. However, many believe that since Karik is no longer a coach this year, the storytelling genre will no longer be emphasized.

Regarding this issue, Alen expressed: "Personally, I think that's not entirely true, because one of the four coaches of Rap Viet is still doing very well in the storytelling genre."

The male rapper also shared his desire to collaborate with Karik: "I've been a fan of Karik since 2010. In the future, if I have the opportunity, I really hope to collaborate with my idol; this would be an extremely great honor for me."

Revenge at Rap Viet Season 4

Speaking further about being eliminated due to insufficient audience votes, Alen affirmed that he always thought of it as a game when he started participating in the program. The rapper wanted to be a good player and therefore followed the rules of the game.

The male rapper expressed his desire to return to the competition in the next season.

Sharing about the reasons and difficulties of participating in Rap Viet season 3 after two seasons that didn't really leave a strong impression, Alen said he wanted to give himself a chance to break free from his limitations, and wanted to experience and learn on a big show.

"The biggest challenge when bringing myself from the underground scene to a television show is about musical language and how to convey it in a way that resonates with the general public."

"I will return to Rap Viet season 4 if I have enough time and health because I'm expecting my little angel soon. If I do, I'll come back with a fresher, gentler image," the rapper confided.

Alen was born in 1998. He is no stranger to the rap scene, known by his stage name Megashock. He changed his name to Alen for Rap Viet.

He used to be a member of The Twister and is currently with Error 404. Megashock's strength lies in his fast-flow rap, delivering lyrics at an extremely rapid pace, honed through years of practice. He's even been dubbed the "speed demon" of Vietnamese rap.

Currently, he is one of the few people still pursuing Chopper Rap in Vietnam. This is a relatively new rap genre, introduced to the Vietnamese music market in the early 2000s. Chopper rap focuses on the rhythm and speed of the lyrics.

Megashock previously impressed with a series of songs in the Saigon Chopper series. The rapper described his rap style in this genre as not necessarily fast, but more importantly, creating a sense of continuity for the listener.
