"Ca Mau dried shrimp" faces the challenge of maintaining its specialty product standards.

Amidst competitive pressure and the risk of losing the reputation of its specialty product, "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" is entering the certification branding phase with the hope of creating a "barrier" to quality control, protecting the local brand, and expanding access to larger markets.

On May 19, 2026, the Center for Science and Technology Application, Department of Science and Technology of Ca Mau province, organized a workshop on the project: Building a certification mark for "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" under the Program for building, protecting and managing the development of distinctive local products and specialties in 2025.

Overview of the Conference.

At the workshop, the organizing unit approved the Regulations on the management and use of the "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" certification mark; and also shared information on: (i) Building and developing the "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" certification mark: Solutions for managing, using, exploiting, and protecting the certification mark associated with the geographical location; (ii) The current status of farming and exploitation of raw materials for dried shrimp production in Ca Mau.

Accordingly, the delegates focused on discussing several core issues such as: Standardizing quality standards for dried shrimp products; Completing regulations for managing and using the trademark; Determining the raw material sourcing area map; Improving the dried shrimp processing process; Selecting a logo for products bearing the certification trademark; and Unifying the ownership of the "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" certification trademark.

The workshop unanimously agreed that the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality is the owner of the "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" trademark.

The leaders of the Center for Science and Technology Application of Ca Mau province acknowledged and accepted the opinions of the delegates attending the meeting, so that the lead unit can complete the application for trademark protection of "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" in accordance with regulations. The early establishment and protection of the "Ca Mau Dried Shrimp" trademark will be a solid foundation for the product to expand its market, increase its competitiveness, and promote sustainable economic development for the locality in the future.
