Hoa Phat Steel - 10 years of stability, ready for a breakthrough.

Director Hoang Duc Thuan shared his heartfelt thoughts at the 10th anniversary celebration of Hoa Phat Steel Co., Ltd.

The 10th anniversary celebration of Hoa Phat Steel was held on April 11, 2026, at Wyndham Garden Sonasea Van Don ( Quang Ninh ) with the theme "10 Years of Steadfastness, Ready for Breakthrough". The ceremony took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere with the participation of 150 employees and, notably, the Board of Directors and the General Management Board of Hoa Phat Steel and Steel Pipe Corporation.

At the check-in area, guests were welcomed with a backdrop themed "10 Years of Steadfastness - Ready to Break Through".

Starting from the "land of happiness"

Exactly a decade ago, on April 26, 2016, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Co., Ltd. was officially established, laying the first brick for the galvanized steel sheet manufacturing plant project in Pho Noi A Industrial Park, Hung Yen province. Ms. Do Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the company - one of the first people involved in the project - still remembers the emotions of the first day of construction:

"I vividly remember standing at the construction site that evening, looking at the deep foundation pit in the middle of a vast, empty plot of land spanning 120,000 m². At that time, I wondered what the factory would be like in the future. Today, 10 years after its establishment, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Factory has maximized production on its lines, firmly holding a position in the Top 5 of the galvanized steel sheet market share in Vietnam and is present in 29 countries across 5 continents. This very place has become a 'land of happiness,' not only sowing seeds of success but also bringing together many couples within the company."

Ms. Do Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the company - one of the first people to participate in the project, shared her thoughts on the "land of happiness".

From the very beginning, Hoa Phat Group made a systematic investment by signing a contract with Danieli Group in June 2016 to supply cold rolling, pickling, and other key equipment. With a total investment of approximately 4,000 billion VND, the project was a major challenge for a company new to the highly competitive market.

Overcoming challenges with an "iron" spirit.

The early days of the project were an unforgettable time for Mr. Dang Dinh Thang, Deputy Director of the factory. At that time, corrugated iron was a completely new industry for the Group. Mr. Thang recalled: "There were nights when the Project Team members were still working online until 12:00 AM, and the Technical and Materials Department was constantly exchanging information until 1:00 AM to meet the deadlines with partner units."

Sharing the same spirit, Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, Head of the Materials Department, recounted his experience of "racing against time" to sign the pipeline system contract before the Lunar New Year: "The team in the department would be at the office by 6:30 AM and work until 9:00 PM for over a month straight to break down the drawings and calculate the work quantities."

Mr. Do Duc Viet, Deputy Workshop Manager of the Mechanical and Electrical Workshop, shared the difficulties in installing and testing the most modern technology from G7 countries: “We had to constantly learn and improve ourselves to meet the equipment requirements. I still remember the days of working under the sun and rain on the construction site, covering each technological pit or preventing flooding of temporary warehouses and workshops, meetings that lasted until midnight, and continuous adjustments to match the blueprints with reality… all of it was like a whirlwind to speed up the construction progress of the factory.”

Those efforts paid off handsomely. In April 2018, after nearly two years of construction and installation, the first colored coated steel products under the Hoa Phat Steel brand were officially launched. “April 19, 2018 was a special day for us as we welcomed visiting delegations to launch our new products. It was an unforgettable day for everyone who had been involved from the beginning of the project; everyone was proud to have contributed to it,” Mr. Viet recalled.

Just a few months later, in November 2018, Hoa Phat Steel successfully exported its first batch of galvanized steel products to the US market – one of the most demanding markets.

Mr. Hoang Duc Thuan, Director of the company, fondly recalled: “When we shipped the first consignment to the US, we anxiously awaited information about customers receiving the product, sales, evaluations, and feedback on quality.” He affirmed: “The shipment to a demanding market like the US not only opened up opportunities but also served as the most important test of Hoa Phat Steel's product quality. This is not only a significant milestone in our development journey but also proof of Hoa Phat Steel's product quality and competitiveness in the market.”

“Getting our products into demanding markets like the US is the beginning of Hoa Phat Steel's stronger market penetration. 2021 was the most explosive year for exports, with exports accounting for 70% of the company's sales volume. The US market alone achieved sales of 95,000 tons, contributing about one-third of the total export volume,” added Mr. Vu Trong Quy, Deputy Head of the Export Department.

With sales volume exceeding 423,000 tons in 2025, Hoa Phat Steel continues to maintain its market share, ranking among the top 5 largest manufacturers in Vietnam. Of this, domestic sales reached 321,000 tons, surpassing the set target. Exports contributed nearly 102,000 tons, equivalent to 31.6% of Hoa Phat Steel's total sales volume.

Sharing his thoughts on the people who built the Hoa Phat Steel brand, Mr. Hoang Duc Thuan proudly said: “Hoa Phat Steel is proud to have a team of enthusiastic, energetic employees who are always striving and not afraid of difficulties. I still remember the time during the Covid-19 pandemic, we all worked together to implement the 'three on-site' principle – eating, living, producing, and fighting the pandemic simultaneously, following the Group's guidelines and information from the Ministry of Health. Despite the difficulties, the factory still operated at full capacity, even exceeding 15% of its designed capacity.”

Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha - Director of Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Factory and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Steel Pipe Factory presented the "10-Year Milestone - Journey of Dedication" award to employees of the Polishing and Rolling Workshop, the Coating and Painting Workshop, and the Technical and Technology Department.

The "10-Year Milestone - Journey of Dedication" category recognizes 40 individuals who have been with Hoa Phat Group since the project's inception. The award recognizes individuals from the following departments: Engineering Department, Technology Department, Quality Management Department, Warehouse Department, Materials Department, Accounting Department, Mechanical and Electrical Workshop, Coating and Painting Workshop, etc.

Personnel from the Export Department and the Sales Department were honored in the "Pioneering" award category.

At the celebration, the company also honored and rewarded outstanding individuals from the Sales and Export Departments in the "Pioneering" category - those who have been at the forefront, helping Hoa Phat Steel products reach across 5 continents and 29 countries worldwide.

Leading up to its 10th anniversary, the company organized a series of meaningful activities such as: the Ton Hoa Phat Men's Football Tournament, the writing contest "10 Years of Milestones - Untold Stories," and the "Slogan Creation" contest, all with the aim of enhancing team spirit and expressing the sentiments of the staff on this special occasion.

The Ton Hoa Phat Men's Football Championship title went to the Mechanical and Electrical Workshop after a convincing 3-0 victory in the final against the Plating and Painting Workshop team.

Ms. Do Hai Yen presented awards to 4 employees who won prizes in the writing contest "10 Years of Milestones - Untold Stories".

The first prize in the "Slogan Creation" contest went to the Sales Department with the slogan "Hoa Phat Steel - 10 years of stability, ready to break through".

Stepping confidently into the new decade.

Concluding the first 10 years of its journey, Director Hoang Duc Thuan addressed the entire staff: "Proud of the journey so far and determined for the road ahead, I hope that all staff members will inherit and build upon this, working together with the Board of Directors to successfully achieve the set goals and continue writing the story of Hoa Phat Steel for many decades to come."
