VIDEO : People sob as the convoy carrying the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passes by. This was the statement made by National Assembly delegate Vu Trong Kim, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Former Youth Volunteers Association, to VietNamNet when referring to the two days of national mourning for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Capturing the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese people.

How did you feel about the two days of national mourning for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong? General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing left a great sense of hope in the hearts of the people. It was this hope that drew crowds from all over to Hanoi to pay their respects. Regardless of the rain on July 25th or the scorching sun on July 26th, whether it was midnight or early morning, large numbers of people still lined up to wait their turn to pay their respects. From young to old, not only people from Hanoi but also from many distant provinces and cities came to queue and pay their respects.

Among the crowds were wounded soldiers, the elderly, children, and even some who were ill, all striving to come and bid farewell to the General Secretary. This demonstrates immense faith and respect for the leader of our Party. It can be said that at times when the people's trust had diminished, Mr. Trong revived it with his passionate dedication and decisive actions to reform the country, from the economy to culture, social welfare, diplomacy , and especially in the work of building and rectifying the Party. His fight against corruption and negative practices has further strengthened the people's trust. What he said and did showed the image of a just leader; a shining example for the nation and its people. This trust and affection was expressed by the people through the long lines stretching for kilometers, rain or shine, over the past two days, to light incense before his coffin. Could you share your feelings about personally attending the funeral and witnessing the long lines of people paying their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong? Yesterday afternoon, I was also among the crowd paying their respects to the General Secretary . Under the scorching July midday sun, each person held a paper fan, inching forward... but very orderly and patiently, without a single complaint. Through that, I felt immense faith and pride, and felt stronger than ever. I sensed the honor and glory of our country and the Vietnamese people before the vast world.

Like many other citizens, I believe that our country will develop even further in the future. The images of people paying their respects to the General Secretary show the support and trust of the people, not only for the General Secretary but also for the reform policies and the positive aspects of society today. The images of the people over the past two days reflect not only their faith in the past but also in the future. It can be said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away surrounded by the love and respect of the people. He was a man of the people, who captured the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese people and many friends around the world. That's why everyone there shed tears.

An outstanding theorist, a great cultural figure.

The image of the General Secretary's family at the funeral, especially his wife Ngo Thi Man, left a deep impression on the people. Surely you felt this too? I saw that from ordinary citizens to high-ranking leaders who came to pay their respects to the General Secretary, everyone expressed boundless sorrow and witnessed the image of an exemplary family. From the General Secretary's gentle wife – Mrs. Ngo Thi Man – to his son and daughter, the family, already known to the people for their integrity and orderliness, now further affirmed that.

The image of the General Secretary's family has deeply moved and impressed the people, further increasing their respect for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. No one, not even hostile forces, can "dig deep" to distort or misrepresent the General Secretary's ethics and lifestyle. The General Secretary is truly an outstanding disciple of President Ho Chi Minh . Between words and actions, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ethics, ideology, and style, Mr. Trong has achieved this and become a prominent example for future generations. The General Secretary is not only an outstanding theorist but also a great cultural figure, with culture evident in his family life and work style.

The two days of national mourning also showed a very proper response from the people. Those who are degenerate and corrupt are condemned and shunned by the people; while those who are exemplary and serve the country and the people are respected and trusted by the people. This also proves that "the people are the foundation," and the people's assessment is the most objective and fair, just as the General Secretary often simply says, "the people know everything." The two days of national mourning demonstrated the people's "knowing everything." When mentioning General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, what do you remember most and which of his sayings resonates most with you? The General Secretary is very concerned about the lives of the people, and when he asks questions, he asks in detail, thoroughly, and with specific evidence, addresses, and images. Through this, he grasps the truth of every issue to formulate policies and actions for each specific matter. The General Secretary always reminds us that: Caring for the lives of the people is caring for the freedom and happiness of each individual. Personally, I find that the General Secretary has a great affection for the soldiers and the Youth Volunteers. Therefore, when the topic of the State needing to recognize each member of the Youth Volunteers came up, the General Secretary was very concerned and requested that it be done soon because the veterans of the Youth Volunteers are all getting old now.

With the support of the General Secretary, the regulation on awarding the "Glorious Youth Volunteer Medal" has been institutionalized in the Law on Emulation and Commendation. Like many other citizens, I deeply understand the General Secretary's words: "Once the furnace is hot, both dry and wet wood will burn." Therefore, this "furnace burning" campaign has no forbidden zones, no exceptions; anyone who violates the rules will be punished. The people are very happy and supportive of the General Secretary's achievements and determination in combating corruption. For the country to develop and progress, it must address negative issues. Only then can positive developments be promoted.

No one can turn back the wheel of history.

The legacy left by the General Secretary is immense; the question is how we will preserve and develop it in the future, sir? I think we can have complete confidence in the future development of the country, with the renewal, consolidation, and building of the Party continuing to be stronger. Because this is a development trend that follows the laws of nature. Society is changing in a positive direction; no one can go against the wheel of history. Anyone who goes against the wheel of history will be crushed. The current development trend is positive, objective, and reflects the trends of the times, with the support of the people, so there is no reason for us to go against it.

A strong party must have the support of the people. Similarly, a person who wants to accomplish great things must also have the support of the people.
