Can Tho City: Comprehensive inspection of parking fee collection activities

On August 7, the Office of the People's Committee of Can Tho City announced that Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City Tran Van Lau had just directed relevant agencies to coordinate a comprehensive inspection of vehicle parking fee collection activities in the area.

Parking lot at An Hoa market is reported by people to charge higher price than regulated

Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Cai Khe Ward and related units to inspect and review all parking fee collection activities at An Hoa Market, review all parking fee collection activities at An Hoa Market as well as similar markets and public places.

The inspection must be carried out urgently, in a serious and responsible spirit, ensuring that the act of charging fees higher than the state-regulated price (such as the reported level of 10,000 VND/hour after 2 p.m.) is clearly identified, and the responsibilities of the organizations and individuals involved are clarified...

Previously, many people were upset about the parking lot at An Hoa market, located along Tran Viet Chau street (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city) charging many times more for parking than the regulations. Specifically, people complained about the situation of charging 10,000 VND/hour for motorbike parking starting from 2:00 p.m.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City emphasized: in case of detecting violations, the units are responsible for strictly handling them in accordance with current legal regulations and publicizing the results for people to know, monitor and supervise. The implementation results must be reported to the City People's Committee before August 10, 2025.

At the same time, the Department of Finance is assigned to coordinate with the Department of Health to review and advise on adjusting parking service prices at public hospitals in an appropriate and legal manner, and to study the option of making it completely free if qualified.
