Time Out magazine has just published its ranking of the most attractive food cities in 2026. Ho Chi Minh City ranks 6th on the list, confirming its growing appeal on the global culinary map.
Time Out predicts that by 2026, Ho Chi Minh City's culinary scene will no longer be just "on the rise," but will officially enter a clearly defined phase, developing in parallel between traditional street food and modern fine dining models.
Ho Chi Minh City has been described as 'very wonderful'.
According to a survey of over 24,000 people globally, along with assessments from Time Out 's panel of culinary experts, Ho Chi Minh City received a 70% rating from the expert group, while 75% of locals rated the city's dining experience as "good" or "excellent".
Notably, 63% of respondents considered street food to be the city's biggest strength, followed by its coffee shops and cafes at 61%.

Time Out considers Ho Chi Minh City one of the rare cities that can reconcile two types of cuisine, from cheap street food served on plastic chairs on the sidewalk to high-end, experimental culinary experiences.
"In Ho Chi Minh City, even pho has entered the world of fine-dining."
But just a few streets away, a plastic chair by the roadside can still offer a bowl of pho that's just as delicious, but at a fraction of the price.
That bowl of pho was served from a pot of broth that had been simmering for longer than the lifespans of many of the locals. This city has the "essence" to coexist with both experiences," wrote Time Out magazine.

In another food review of Ho Chi Minh City, Time Out also praised the city, stating that it would be insufficient to describe it simply as a "giant food court." Some of the dishes recommended by the site include grilled pork vermicelli, broken rice with grilled pork, snails in hot pot, and various vegetarian dishes.
Besides Ho Chi Minh City, this year's ranking includes many major culinary cities around the world, including Lima (Peru), Bangkok (Thailand), Mexico City (Mexico), London (England), Barcelona (Spain), Melbourne (Australia), Beijing (China), Athens (Greece), and Lisbon (Portugal).
Time Out is a global magazine published by the Time Out Group. First published in 1968 as a London-only publication, it has since expanded to 333 cities in 59 countries worldwide.
Time Out 's content focuses on suggesting experiences such as restaurants, cafes, movies, exhibitions, music , and notable events.
