Deeply imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "The people are the foundation," the Party Committee and government of Long Xuyen City prioritize the well-being of the people, contributing to building a more prosperous, happy, and developed locality.

Leaders of Long Xuyen City and philanthropists donated motorbikes to two families receiving government assistance to help them earn a living.

"Putting the people first"

From policies and resolutions to specific action programs and plans, the Long Xuyen City Party Committee has always deeply embraced the principle of "putting the people first." Every decision is carefully considered, stemming from the legitimate interests and aspirations of the people. The Party committee and government regularly listen to opinions and understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people through various channels of dialogue and contact with voters. From there, they make timely adjustments and additions that are relevant to real life.

One of the most vivid manifestations of learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example is the strong investment in essential areas that directly improve the quality of life for the people. The grassroots healthcare system has been strengthened and developed, ensuring that people have convenient and effective access to primary healthcare services. Schools have been built in a spacious and modern manner, and teachers are constantly improving their professional skills; creating conditions for all children to attend school and develop comprehensively. This contributes to raising the intellectual level of the population and nurturing future talents in the locality.

Following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings on "skillful mass mobilization," the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and mass organizations of Long Xuyen City have focused on mass mobilization work, creating consensus and active participation of the people in local socio -economic development movements and programs. Programs supporting housing, providing production capital, and creating jobs for the poor and those with special circumstances have been effectively implemented. Activities such as "Paying gratitude and showing appreciation," caring for wounded soldiers and families of policy beneficiaries, are regularly organized, demonstrating deep gratitude towards those who have contributed to the revolution. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the city has distributed nearly 8,400 gifts to support poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households, totaling nearly 3.2 billion VND from mobilized funds; and visited and presented Tet gifts to 50 exemplary policy beneficiary families with difficult circumstances, totaling 100 million VND.

With all our hearts dedicated to the people, we will build Long Xuyen.

“Implementing the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, without receiving support from the province (aimed at supporting other more disadvantaged localities), and without using the 5% savings from the local budget's recurrent expenditures, the city mobilized over 3.3 billion VND (out of a total implementation cost of over 4.3 billion VND), with the remainder coming from the Gratitude Fund and matching contributions from the supported households. As a result, by the end of March 2025, the city completed 60 out of 60 houses (including 4 families of war veterans), exceeding the city and provincial plan by 3 months, and ahead of the central government's plan by 9 months,” said Huynh Quoc Thai, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Long Xuyen City Party Committee.

Beyond macro-level policies, concern for the people's lives is also demonstrated in the concrete, practical daily actions of officials and Party members. The spirit of responsibility and dedication to serving the people, promptly resolving their difficulties and problems, has become a beautiful aspect of the working style of the officials and Party members of Long Xuyen City.

Every Friday morning, the Women's Union of My Xuyen Ward implements the "Bread of Love," "Vegetables of Compassion," and "Free Clothing Stall" models. The stalls are set up in front of the Ward Party Committee and People's Committee headquarters. "The special thing about these models is that they operate on love and voluntary contributions from the community. Many residents, small business owners, and philanthropists have joined hands, contributing both ingredients and labor, creating meaningful models," shared Vo Thi Hue Thanh, President of the My Xuyen Ward Women's Union.

Receiving a fragrant meat sandwich and a carton of fresh milk, Mrs. Hai's eyes (a lottery ticket vendor), already dimmed by age and the worries of everyday life, suddenly lit up with a warm glow. Her thin, calloused hands trembled as she clutched the small gift, which contained so much human kindness. A gentle smile bloomed on her wrinkled face, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Thank you... thank you so much," Mrs. Hai choked out, unable to speak further. For her, this was not just a simple meal, but a sharing, a kind heart from strangers, a small but invaluable source of encouragement in her arduous struggle for survival.

Over the past period, the Party Committee and government of Long Xuyen City have continuously studied and followed the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh , especially focusing on caring for the lives of the people. The achievements in socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for the people are clear evidence of this. With the spirit of "the Party's will and the people's hearts are one," Long Xuyen continues to move steadily forward on the journey of building an increasingly civilized, prosperous, and livable city.
