Following the directives of the National Election Council and the plan of the Provincial Election Committee, the People's Committees of 102 communes, wards, and special zones have completed the identification of polling areas and the establishment of polling stations. The entire province has decided to establish 1,713 polling stations and 2,713 polling areas. The Tho Chau Special Zone, in particular, has been permitted by the National Election Council to hold early elections on March 8, 2026, ensuring the voting rights of voters and requiring the compilation of results in accordance with regulations.

The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province held its first consultative meeting to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates to be nominated for the 16th National Assembly. According to the allocation by the National Assembly Standing Committee, the province is to elect 21 National Assembly deputies, including 10 nominated by the Central Committee and 11 nominated by the locality. Based on this, the province plans to nominate 25 candidates out of a total of 35 official candidates, ensuring a balanced structure as stipulated by law; while also focusing on the proportion of female deputies, Khmer ethnic minority deputies, non-Party deputies, young deputies, and re-elected deputies.
For the election of delegates to the 11th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031, the first consultative meeting agreed on the number of delegates at 85. Mr. Le Thanh Viet - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, informed: “The delegate structure is comprehensively built, representing the fields of the Party, government, Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, religion, armed forces, justice, intellectuals and businesses.” The total number of official candidates is 143, of which female delegates account for more than 39%, ethnic minority delegates more than 11%, non-Party delegates nearly 10.5%, and young delegates under 40 years old more than 16%. These figures clearly demonstrate the spirit of expanding democracy, ensuring representation and inclusiveness of all strata of the people.
At the commune level, the Standing Committee of the People's Council of the commune plans to nominate 4,481 people to elect 2,449 representatives to the People's Council for the new term. The structure of the representatives is being developed strictly, according to principles, ensuring a balance and reasonable distribution among social components, with a focus on female representatives, ethnic minority representatives, non-Party representatives, young people, and re-elected representatives, meeting the requirements of representation and enhancing the effectiveness of the People's Council at the grassroots level.
Agencies, units, and localities in the province seriously organized conferences to gather opinions from voters at their workplaces regarding nominated candidates. At these conferences, voters directly participated in providing comprehensive comments and assessments on the political qualities, ethics, lifestyle, work capacity, reputation, and level of trust of each candidate, making a significant contribution to the screening and selection of truly deserving individuals.
In the Tho Chau Special Administrative Region, voter consultation meetings recorded a high level of consensus and agreement regarding the 36 individuals nominated to run for election as representatives to the Special Administrative Region People's Council for the 2026-2031 term. According to the Special Administrative Region Election Committee, these are all individuals with strong political convictions, impeccable moral character, a high sense of responsibility, and who fully meet the prescribed standards.
In Tien Hai commune, Mr. Chung Loi Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee and Chairman of the Commune Election Committee, stated that the meeting of voters at the workplace to nominate candidates for the Commune People's Council was attended by all officials, civil servants, and employees. The results of the meeting showed a high level of consensus and agreement among the voters. The voting was conducted openly and democratically, without any complicated issues, ensuring the progress and quality of the candidate nomination process.
At the Provincial Military Command, a meeting to gather opinions from voters regarding candidates nominated for the National Assembly and Provincial People's Council was conducted seriously and in accordance with principles. The opinions focused on objectively assessing the qualities, capabilities, and prestige of each candidate. Colonel Huynh Van Khoi, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, emphasized: "The provincial armed forces thoroughly understand the Party's guidelines and the State's laws on election work, ensuring the selection of outstanding cadres who represent the will and aspirations of the officers and soldiers."
The entire province is implementing the election process meticulously. An Giang strives to successfully organize the election of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term on March 15, 2026, so that election day truly becomes a festival for all citizens.
