Phan Thiet City approves the policy of reorganizing administrative units at the provincial and commune levels.

On the afternoon of April 23rd, the 12th term (2021-2026) of the Phan Thiet City People's Council held its 10th session (special session) to discuss and approve many important issues, notably the proposal to reorganize provincial and commune-level administrative units. Mr. Nguyen Van Luan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council, presided over the session.

Attending the session were delegates of the 12th Provincial People's Council - Phan Thiet - Phu Quy constituency; Mr. Pham Van Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Phan Thiet City Party Committee; Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan - Chairman of the Phan Thiet City People's Committee, along with other delegates of the People's Council and leaders of relevant departments and units of the city.

At the meeting, delegates heard a presentation proposing the approval of the policy on reorganizing administrative units in Binh Thuan , Lam Dong, and Dak Nong provinces, as well as the policy on reorganizing commune-level administrative units in Phan Thiet City.

After hearing the presentation, the City People's Council voted to approve the Resolution. The resolution endorsed the plan to reorganize the administrative units of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, and Dak Nong provinces into a new Lam Dong province, with the administrative center located in the current Lam Dong province.

The meeting approved the plan to reorganize the commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province in 2025 within Phan Thiet city. Accordingly, 19 existing commune-level administrative units will be reorganized into 7 new commune-level administrative units.

Through a Resolution on the reorganization of provincial and commune-level administrative units.

Following the policy of reorganizing commune-level administrative units, Phan Thiet City merged Mui Ne ward, Ham Tien ward, and Thien Nghiep commune to form the new Mui Ne ward. After the merger, Mui Ne ward has a natural area of ​​118.59 km2, a population of 50,166 people, and its office is located in the current Ham Tien ward.

Ham Thang commune, Phu Long town, and Xuan An ward were merged to form Ham Thang ward. After the merger, Ham Thang ward has a natural area of ​​44.90 km2, a population of 54,544 people, and its office is located in the current Xuan An ward.

The wards of Phu Hai, Thanh Hai, and Phu Thuy were merged to form Phu Thuy ward. After the merger, Phu Thuy ward has a natural area of ​​17.31 km2, a population of 54,049 people, and its administrative office is located in the current Phu Thuy ward.

The wards of Phu Trinh, Binh Hung, and Lac Dao were merged to form Phan Thiet ward. After the merger, Phan Thiet ward has a natural area of ​​4.46 km2, a population of 85,493 people, and its administrative office is located in the current Lac Dao ward.

The communes of Hàm Hiệp (Hàm Thuận Bắc district), Phong Nẫm, and Phú Tài were merged to form Bình Thuận ward. After the merger, Bình Thuận ward has a natural area of ​​45.16 km2, a population of 47,858 people, and its office is located in the current Phong Nẫm commune.

The Duc Long ward and Tien Thanh commune were merged to form Tien Thanh ward. After the merger, Tien Thanh ward has a natural area of ​​55.06 km2, a population of 28,395 people, and its office is located in the current Duc Long ward.

The communes of Tiến Lợi and Hàm Mỹ (Hàm Thuận Nam district) were merged to form Tuyên Quang commune. After the merger, Tuyên Quang commune has a natural area of ​​38.17 km2, a population of 28,817 people, and its administrative office is located in the current Tiến Lợi commune.

As a result of the reorganization, Phan Thiet City will have 7 administrative units at the commune level, including 6 wards and 1 commune, a reduction of 12 units compared to the current number.

At the session, the City People's Council reviewed and approved resolutions related to public investment and the National Target Program for New Rural Development in the city. Specifically, the delegates unanimously approved the plan for allocating state budget capital in 2025 (phase 1) and the public investment plan in 2025 (phase 2) for the New Rural Development Program. They also approved resolutions adjusting and supplementing the public investment capital plan for 2025 and the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025.
