Ho Chi Minh City announces guidelines for free health check-ups for residents.

On May 31st, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health issued guidelines on the free health check-up program to help people understand which group they belong to. This will facilitate the free health check-up process for both citizens and medical facilities, ensuring that citizens receive all the benefits stipulated by regulations.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , the policy of free periodic health check-ups applies to Vietnamese citizens actually residing in Ho Chi Minh City, including those with registered permanent and temporary residence, whose residence information has been verified through the national database and the VNeID application.

Every citizen is entitled to a free periodic health check-up. However, the funding for medical facilities to conduct these check-ups will be allocated differently depending on the target group, as stipulated by law and city policies. Specifically:

To ensure the quality and consistency of the free periodic health check-up program for citizens, the city only selects hospitals, medical centers, and clinics that fully meet the conditions stipulated by the Ministry of Health regarding health check-ups. All facilities are assessed by the Department of Health regarding personnel, equipment, infrastructure, professional procedures, and data management capabilities before being announced as eligible to participate in the program.

Local residents will be notified, guided, or invited to mobile health check-up points in their communes, as arranged by the commune People's Committee. In addition, residents can also visit 68 qualified medical facilities (list attached) for free periodic health check-ups.

When participating in free routine health check-ups, citizens need to prepare a phone logged into the VNeID application or a chip-embedded citizen identity card so that the health facility can easily verify information, complete the record, and update electronic health data.

The results of health check-ups will be updated by the health facility to the community health management platform and synchronized with the city's Digital Citizen application so that people can conveniently look up and monitor their health status. In addition, when instructed by the Ministry of Health, health check-up results will also be integrated into the Electronic Health Book through the VneID application.

If abnormal results are detected or further monitoring is needed, the health facility will proactively call or send a message guiding people to appropriate medical facilities for timely consultation, examination, and treatment.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, health check-up facilities will provide results and health consultations to citizens within 24 to 48 hours after the completion of the health check. Citizens can download the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Citizen application from the App Store or Google Play, then log in using their phone number or electronic identification account to track their health check results, examination history, and related health care information.
