In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, IBA world champion Tran Van Thao won on points against Kenbun Torres in the WBO Global Title Match boxing event on the evening of November 18th.
The most anticipated match of the event is the bout between Vietnamese boxer and IBA world champion Tran Van Thao and Torres in the 54kg weight class. His opponent is from Mexico – one of the world's strongest boxing nations in the light heavyweight division. Torres is also in excellent form with 12 wins, including 9 by knockout, in 16 fights. This match is expected to last 8 rounds, each lasting 3 minutes.
Both fighters started cautiously, mostly probing each other's moves. Then, Torres began throwing quality straight punches, putting Van Thao in a difficult position. But gradually, the home fighter regained his balance, landing dangerous right-hand punches. Towards the end of the first round, Van Thao thrilled the audience with two consecutive accurate punches.

At the start of the second round, both fighters increased the pace with a continuous barrage of punches and kicks. Mid-round, Van Thao unleashed a series of powerful body-shots, causing his opponent pain and then relentlessly pressing him, forcing him to constantly retreat. But despite being at a disadvantage, Torres was still able to score points with a combination of blows before the second round ended.
Playing with composure and caution against a formidable opponent, Van Thao continued to score points in the third round with a chin punch and a precise left hook. Not only did she attack well, but Van Thao also demonstrated solid defense, preventing Torres from scoring points in the fourth round.
Torres attempted to go on the offensive in the fifth round, but was repeatedly countered. However, the Mexican fighter showed no signs of fatigue. The two fighters continued to exchange blows in the remaining rounds.
After eight rounds, the judges unanimously awarded Tran Van Thao the victory by technical points. This was the Vietnamese fighter's 16th win in 17 fights. "Before the fight, I thought it would be difficult to knock out my opponent, so I tried to maintain my advantage through each round to achieve the desired result. I am happy and honored to have defeated a fighter from Mexico for the first time, a very experienced and not easy opponent," Van Thao said after the match.

In another fight, reigning Chinese champion Zhu DianXing successfully defended his WBO global 47.5 kg title against challenger Sanchai Yotboon from Thailand. Zhu demonstrated his class by constantly closing the distance, creating tremendous pressure on his opponent with numerous hooks to Sanchai's abdomen.
In the third round, after taking heavy punches to the stomach, Sanchai collapsed to the floor twice in a row. And after a third heavy hook from his opponent, the Thai fighter was unable to continue. Zhu thus won by knockout. The number one Chinese fighter increased his record to 11 wins (10 by knockout) in just 12 fights.
