* Journalist Nguyen Quoc ( Bac Lieu Newspaper) won first prize.
On the afternoon of April 24, 2025, in Ben Tre City, the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Ben Tre Provincial Journalists Association, organized the 9th Mekong Delta Journalism Awards Ceremony.
The Standing Committee of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee sent a congratulatory flower arrangement to the event. Attending the ceremony were journalist Tran Trong Dung - Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in charge of the South, Head of the Award Steering Committee; Comrade Tran Thanh Lam - Deputy Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee; along with leaders of press agencies, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and the Journalists Associations of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

The ceremony was held to recognize, encourage, and reward journalists, reporters, editors, contributors, and correspondents from central and local media agencies who have produced high-quality journalistic works about the land and people of the Mekong Delta.
This year's event is even more significant as it takes place in the atmosphere of the whole country looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
The 9th Mekong Delta Journalism Awards attracted nearly 300 entries across four categories: print, online, radio, and television. After two rounds of preliminary and final judging, the organizing committee selected 22 outstanding works to award prizes, including: 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 10 Consolation Prizes.
The two first-prize winning entries were: In the print/online journalism category: A four-part series titled “Science and Technology – A Key Driving Force for the Development of the Mekong Delta” by journalist Nguyen Quoc (Bac Lieu Newspaper). In the radio/television category: A five-part television documentary series titled “Nine River Mouths of the Dragon” by the team of authors Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung, Nguyen Minh Cuong, Tran Tuan Tu, and Bui Tan Vu (Vinh Long Newspaper, Radio and Television Station).

Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized: “Every day we are provided with breaking news, objective and truthful analyses, assessments, and comments on many issues in life, heartwarming stories, and inspiring examples of resilience. This makes us appreciate even more the passion and dedication of journalists. Because without a love for the profession, few could remain steadfast and persistent in their work.”
The Mekong Delta Journalism Award, held annually since 2016, is a prestigious professional platform for journalist members and reporters working at media agencies in the Mekong Delta region, as well as resident reporters there.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, also donated 2,000 national flags from the "Proud of the National Flag" program to Thanh Phu district, Ben Tre province. At the same time, they awarded 50 scholarships (total value of 50 million VND) to disadvantaged students at My An Secondary and Primary School in Thanh Phu district.
