(NADS) - On the morning of December 22nd, the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in coordination with the Da Nang City Art Photography Association, organized the opening of the exhibition and award ceremony for the second "Da Nang - Acting for Nature" photography contest on environment and biodiversity in 2023.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dang Quang Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City; Photographer Huynh Anh, Member of the Executive Committee - Head of the Inspection Committee, Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists; Photographer Than Nguyen, President of the Da Nang City Art Photography Association, Member of the Art Council of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
Da Nang city has a rich forest ecosystem, with a total forest and forest development planning area of over 66,000 hectares, accounting for approximately 51% of the city's natural land area; Da Nang also has very distinctive nature reserves such as Ba Na - Nui Chua Nature Reserve, Nam Hai Van Special Use Forest, and Son Tra Nature Reserve; the coastal waters of Da Nang have high biodiversity.
In order to select works with profound meaning about the nature and biodiversity of Da Nang, contributing to raising community awareness, and promoting to the people, communities, and tourists about an environmentally friendly city with a unique, diverse, and rich ecosystem, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in coordination with the Da Nang City Art Photography Association, organized the 2nd "Environmental and Biodiversity Photography Contest" with the theme "Da Nang - Acting for Nature" in 2023.
"Beyond just this competition, we hope to create a greater impact and increase community and societal interest in the city's biodiversity conservation efforts. Every citizen is a crucial factor in building a lifestyle for the community that is responsible towards nature, working together to 'Build Da Nang - an environmentally friendly city,' towards an ecological urban future," said Mr. Dang Quang Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City.
The organizing committee selected 15 outstanding works to award prizes. 63 of the most representative works were chosen for exhibition out of a total of 744 works by 109 authors from 11 provinces and cities participating.
