According to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Evaluation of Training Quality (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), 170,127 candidates took the exam, achieving a participation rate of 98.27%.
According to candidates, the second round of the competency assessment exam this year had varying levels of difficulty depending on each individual's abilities and strengths. Many candidates considered the Vietnamese language section the most challenging due to its length and the inclusion of new question types not encountered during preparation or previous mock exams, requiring more thorough reading comprehension and analysis skills.

Meanwhile, the sections on scientific reasoning, English, and mathematics were assessed as maintaining a stable level, having a relatively familiar structure, and being equivalent to the first exam, giving candidates confidence.
Arriving very early, around 5 a.m., Dinh Hoang Long, a student from Hong Duc High School ( Tay Ninh province), said that the second round of the National Competency Assessment Exam this year was somewhat more difficult than the first round, especially in the Vietnamese language section, which required more detailed analysis and identification of multiple ideas than he had initially anticipated.

Despite encountering some difficulties in this section, Long remained quite confident in his critical thinking skills and considered it his best area. After the exam, Long shared: "I will continue to focus on studying and dedicate all my efforts to the upcoming high school graduation exam, as this remains my most important goal."
Many candidates are participating in the second round of the National Competency Assessment Exam with the hope of increasing their chances of university admission. Among them, a significant number of candidates who took the first round but did not achieve their expected scores are registering again to improve their results, while others are participating because they missed the opportunity to register in the previous round.
However, the general mindset of candidates nowadays is to maximize every admission opportunity. Instead of betting on just one exam, they choose to participate in all possible exams, including the upcoming National High School Graduation Exam, to increase their chances of being admitted to their desired university.

The second round of the National Competency Assessment Exam was organized in coordination with 64 higher education institutions in 15 localities, including: Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, and Ca Mau.
The exam results are expected to be announced on June 6, 2026.
