Last weekend, in Tam Ky, Quang Nam University organized the National Scientific Conference “Artificial Intelligence in Education and Scientific Research: Trends, Applications and Challenges”, attracting many scientists from across the country to attend.

The role of artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is creating profound changes on a global scale. Believing that “AI cannot replace humans, but humans without AI will be replaced”, MSc. Luong Bao Tram, on behalf of the group of authors of the topic “Application of AI in scientific research: Opportunities, challenges and some recommendations” (including MSc. Hong Quy - Hoa Sen University, MSc. Le Nguyen Trung Kien - Hue University of Economics ), affirmed that integrating AI into scientific research brings many practical values ​​such as saving time in searching for documents, checking grammar, and formatting text.

In addition, AI also acts as an “initial review assistant”, which can provide preliminary feedback on content, suggest theoretical models, or analyze relationships between research works.

“With its outstanding advantages in speed, data retrieval and processing capabilities, AI gradually supports researchers in expanding their capacity and reducing technical steps. However, AI cannot replace critical thinking, evaluation capacity or the ability to create new knowledge - the core qualities of a true researcher,” shared MSc. Tram.

With the topic "Using Quizizz in designing testing and assessment activities in high schools", the representative of the group of authors from Quang Nam University - MSc. Le Thi My Dieu affirmed that Quizizz is not only a flexible teaching and learning support platform but also helps teachers easily create and manage tests and assess students in many different forms. In the future, further research and the ability to integrate AI in Quizizz can help further enhance the learning and teaching experience, bringing creative applications in testing and assessment ineducation .

From another perspective, the author group MSc. Le Thai Phuong - Phan Kim Ngan from Danang University of Architecture in the research topic "Using ChatGPT in research and learning of tourism students: Approach from the technology acceptance model - TAM" concluded that factors such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, attitude towards ChatGPT and fear of falling behind with AI all have a positive impact on students' behavior of using ChatGPT.

“The research results provide important implications for universities and lecturers in promoting the application of ChatGPT. That is, raising students' awareness of the benefits and usefulness of ChatGPT to effectively support learning and research; lecturers need to proactively guide students on how to exploit ChatGPT effectively” - the representative of the author group suggested.

Promoting AI applications

In the introduction to the workshop, Dr. Pham Nguyen Hong Ngu - Vice Principal of Quang Nam University said that the workshop focused on discussing and clarifying many related contents.

Including, development trends of AI in education and scientific research - outstanding achievements, pioneering technologies and forecasts of development in the near future; AI applications in education - the role of AI in training program design, learning management, learning outcome assessment, personalization of the learning process and teaching support; AI applications in scientific research - automating data analysis, knowledge mining, supporting article writing and publishing, developing research models based on big data.

Besides the advantages, there are also challenges when deploying AI in education and research - ethical issues, data security, digital capacity gap between training institutions, human resources and infrastructure; solutions and development orientations - support policies, building AI human resource training strategies, developing digital ecosystems in education, enhancing interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research cooperation...

“We expect that the results of the workshop will contribute to connecting the network of researchers, lecturers and managers, towards building a strong academic community, together promoting the effective, humane and sustainable application of AI in education and scientific research in Vietnam,” Ms. Ngu shared.

According to the Rector of Quang Nam University - Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Trong Duong, the fourth industrial revolution is taking place strongly all over the world. In particular, AI has become one of the core technologies, deeply affecting most areas of social life, especially in education and scientific research. AI changes the way of teaching, learning and research, from personalizing learning activities, supporting effective teaching, analyzing learning data, to supporting the process of collecting, processing and analyzing research data.

Quang Nam University successfully organized the conference, receiving 60 articles from authors from more than 30 universities and scientific research facilities across the country, creating a multi-dimensional scientific forum for educational managers, scientists, and lecturers to share knowledge, experience, and research results.
