International Seafood Exhibition - Vietfish 2024

On August 21st, the 2024 International Seafood Exhibition (Vietfish 2024), organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Processing and Export (Vasep), opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.

A common set of standards is needed for this type of fruit with billion-dollar export value.

Vietnamese seafood industry "returns" to conquer the domestic market.

The event attracted more than 280 exhibitors and nearly 500 booths from Vietnam and 15 other countries.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Sac, President of Vasep, stated: "Over 25 editions, the scale and activities of the Vietfish Fair have continuously improved and become highly professional, meeting the needs of domestic and international businesses. It has become the largest gathering point for all leading seafood producers and processors in Vietnam and international partners."

Vietfish 2024 expanded its exhibition area from 10,000m2 to 14,000m2, attracting more than 280 exhibitors with nearly 500 booths from Vietnam and 15 other countries such as the USA, Indonesia, India, Russia, Japan, China, etc.

At the exhibition, hundreds of key export products such as frozen and fresh seafood, canned goods, dried goods, fish sauce, etc., along with supporting industries such as technology, equipment, and clean energy, were showcased.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Sac, Vietnam is currently ranked among the countries with high competitiveness in the fisheries sector, ranking 3rd in the world for seafood exports, accounting for over 7% of the global market share, behind only China and Norway. In the context of increasingly deep integration into the global economy , Vietnam's trade in general, and the fisheries sector in particular, has many favorable opportunities to boost production and increase exports.

With the theme "Exported Seafood for Vietnamese People," Vietfish 2024 not only focuses on the international market but also brings export products closer to domestic consumers, contributing to the rapid development of Vietnam's food and beverage industry.

The Vietfish 2024 exhibition will take place from August 21-23 at the Saigon Convention and Exhibition Center.

The number one export market for pangasius is declining sharply.

While pangasius exports to the US increased by 18%, exports to China – its long-standing number one market – decreased by 14%.

We request that China continue to open its market to agricultural and aquatic products, fruits, livestock, and poultry from Vietnam.
