Vietnamese seafood businesses seek opportunities to expand domestic market share

On August 21st, in Ho Chi Minh City, the International Seafood Exhibition (Vietfish) 2024 attracted nearly 300 businesses from 15 countries. This is the largest seafood industry event in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

At the exhibition, many businesses stated that Vietnamese seafood brands have affirmed their position in the international market. This has been confirmed through 25 years of strategic investment in expanding export markets. Currently, Vietnamese seafood products are exported to more than 170 countries and territories, and are available on supermarket shelves worldwide , including modern and reputable supermarket chains in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Japan, and China.

However, amidst the complex global economic developments that significantly impact global logistics, leading to extended or even disrupted delivery times, many businesses have shifted their investment focus to the domestic market. With the theme of Vietfish 2024, "Exported Seafood for Vietnamese People," businesses aspire to bring their export products to the world and then re-enter the domestic market. Simultaneously, they aim to provide more nutritious and convenient food options for Vietnamese family meals, meeting the diverse culinary needs of the younger generation in Vietnam, who are rapidly adapting to changing global consumption patterns.

At the exhibition, businesses affirmed the quality and position of Vietnamese seafood on the international stage through hundreds of key export products on display, such as frozen, fresh, canned, dried, and fish sauce seafood. Furthermore, through the "Cooking Show - Seafood Tasting" activity, businesses also promoted and allowed visitors to directly experience the diverse flavors and quality of Vietnamese products renowned in the global market.

Within the same exhibition framework, many businesses from countries such as the United States, Indonesia, India, Russia, Japan, China, etc., displayed their own distinctive seafood products.

Reportedly, the Vietfish 2024 exhibition will feature numerous trade activities, contract signings for the purchase and supply of seafood products, and strategic cooperation in the fields of aquaculture and seafood processing, creating sustainable value connections...
