This Tet holiday, my sisters and I decided to have traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) made to wear during the spring festivities. On the second day of Tet, when we returned to our hometown, my mother, now 85 years old, was a little surprised and smiled brightly: "Wearing an ao dai during Tet is so beautiful, isn't it, my dear?" Perhaps that was the beauty she felt when she saw herself from past springs.

The return of the ao dai to everyday life not only brings fashion beauty but also contributes to the vitality of the heritage left by our ancestors.

In the book "Traditional Ao Dai - A Journey Back," Dr. Tran Doan Lam, advisor to the Vietnamese Village Club, states: The book provides a solid foundation in terms of history, ethnology, culture, and heritage studies, so that readers can confidently choose the Ao Dai as their national costume for necessary diplomatic occasions, contributing to the preservation of a precious cultural heritage of Vietnam.

This comeback is truly commendable, as it has become ingrained in the consciousness of every Vietnamese person, closely associated with clothing in daily life. As Ms. Anh Thơ (Cẩm Lệ District, Da Nang City) shared during a spring outing wearing an ao dai: "I have to say it's been a long time since I had an ao dai made, two sets to wear for Tet. Now, at forty, I realize that the ao dai is very beautiful and suitable for wearing to important festivals as well as for spring outings."

Innovations in design and a variety of materials have made the ao dai easy to wear and beautiful; from ao dai for children to those for adults, and ao dai for men…

Silk has long been considered the "muse" of the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress), whether fitted or loose-fitting, it always attracts attention. There is a material that seems "unsuitable" for the ao dai, but through the skillful hands of the tailor, it becomes equally charming: linen. Linen ao dai are both free-spirited and fashionable, yet still maintain elegance, making them a popular choice among young people.

Designer Minh Hanh, one of the passionate individuals who "lives and breathes the ao dai," once said: The ao dai can be considered an "ambassador" of Vietnam, representing the image of Vietnam and affirming its traditional culture. Perhaps that's why the issue of trademark protection for the ao dai has been raised. But for centuries, within each Vietnamese person has been a persistent journey of preserving the national dress, promoting its traditional values with profound love.

You'll find yourself smiling when you see a little girl dressed in a colorful ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress). You'll feel a sense of innocence when you witness schoolgirls in white ao dai going to school, peacefully rediscovering the dreams and aspirations of youth.
