Therefore, since the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the Party and the State have paid special attention to caring for families of policy beneficiaries, demonstrating the national tradition of "drinking water and remembering the source." The Party Committee and the government of Dong Thap province have always considered the care of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and those who have contributed to the revolution as an important political task.

The implementation of the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Contributions to the Revolution has been carried out synchronously and effectively; the work of verifying, resolving entitlements and adjusting allowances has been done promptly and in accordance with regulations, contributing to improving the effectiveness of preferential policies for people with meritorious contributions in the province.

The entire province currently manages over 194,000 individuals who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution and those receiving one-time allowances according to the Prime Minister 's Decisions.

Of these, more than 21,000 people who rendered meritorious services and their relatives are receiving monthly allowances, with a total expenditure of approximately 800 billion VND per year.

This includes: 53,885 martyrs, 8,223 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers (103 of whom are still alive), 18,011 wounded soldiers, 2,968 sick soldiers, 1,284 veteran revolutionary cadres; 716 pre-revolution cadres; 4,080 people who participated in revolutionary and resistance activities and were captured and imprisoned by the enemy; 4,355 people who participated in resistance activities and were exposed to chemical toxins and their children; 98 Heroes of the Armed Forces; 22,697 people who participated in the national liberation resistance; 41,389 people who contributed to the revolution…

Over the years, the province has effectively implemented the policies and regulations of the Party and the State, caring for the lives of the Mothers through many concrete actions such as: promptly establishing dossiers and proposing the awarding and posthumous awarding of the State honorary title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother; providing financial support for repairing and building new houses of gratitude; mobilizing organizations, individuals, and businesses to provide lifelong care for the Mothers...

Besides providing monthly support and visiting during holidays, the units regularly contact the families, relatives, and local authorities to monitor the health and living conditions of the Mothers, offering timely support and encouragement, and assisting the families in caring for the Mothers when they are ill.

For example, Long Dinh commune has 179 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, of which 4 are still alive. The local authorities have mobilized businesses to provide support to these mothers, specifically: Mother Nguyen Thi Ba (born in 1930, residing in Hung hamlet) is being supported by a business in Ho Chi Minh City; Mother Huynh Thi My (born in 1925, residing in Tay 2 hamlet) is being supported by the Southern Fruit Tree Institute; Mother Nguyen Thi Hai (born in 1925, residing in Tay 1 hamlet) is being supported by the People's Committee of Long Dinh commune; and Mother Do Thi Hau (born in 1936, residing in Tay 1 hamlet) is being supported by the Party Committee of the Long Dinh commune's Mass Mobilization Bloc.

PROMOTING THE TRADITION OF "REMEMBERING THE SOURCE WHEN DRINKING WATER"

Along with the government and mass organizations, many units and organizations also carry out activities to care for and support the families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, such as the program: "Lotus of Gratitude - Solidarity of Dong Thap" of the Dong Thap Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Dong Thap Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the Department of Internal Affairs of Dong Thap province, presented smartphones to the relatives and gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Du Thi Thinh (My Phong ward).

The program visited and presented a total of 115 smartphones to relatives caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers living in Dong Thap province.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Phuong, Standing Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Business Club in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “The smartphones are donated to relatives caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers with the hope of helping the Mothers stay connected with their children and grandchildren when they are far away, easily access information, and perform essential tasks such as installing and using their own electronic identification.”

The program reflects the heartfelt sentiment of those living far from home, embodying the spirit of "remembering the source when drinking water," and working alongside local authorities to care for families entitled to preferential policies.

The care, attention, and support given to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers by organizations, individuals, businesses, and all levels and sectors in the province over the past period is not only a responsibility but also an honor, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation for the silent sacrifices and contributions of these Mothers to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Loan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Internal Affairs, in recent times, the work of caring for policy beneficiary families in general and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in particular has been implemented promptly, fully, and correctly by the Department of Internal Affairs and localities. The care for wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, and those who have contributed to the revolution has been regularly carried out, and the lives of those who have contributed to the revolution have improved significantly, contributing to political and social stability and economic development of the province.

Most of the surviving Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are cared for by organizations and individuals, who visit them during Tet (Lunar New Year) and other annual holidays.

In Dong Thap province, through practical and concrete actions, all levels, sectors, armed forces units, and local authorities have been increasingly caring for the material and spiritual lives of policy beneficiary families and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, thereby affirming their profound respect for the immense sacrifices made for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kieu Loan stated that, in order to better implement the policy of caring for families of policy beneficiaries and meritorious individuals in the province in the coming time, the Department of Internal Affairs has determined to continue strengthening close coordination between sectors, levels and localities in effectively implementing the "Gratitude and Repayment" movement.

Through this, attention is paid to supporting the construction and repair of houses of gratitude, providing timely assistance to cases of sudden hardship, and contributing to improving and enhancing the lives of people who have rendered meritorious services.

In addition, the Department advises and organizes well-planned activities to visit and give gifts to beneficiaries of social policies on holidays and festivals, especially Lunar New Year and War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

At the same time, effectively mobilize and utilize resources from the central government, local authorities, and the entire society to provide both material and spiritual support for those who have rendered meritorious service.

Another important task is to continue reviewing and improving the system of preferential policies for people with meritorious services; promptly identify and propose solutions to difficulties and obstacles arising during implementation, especially those directly related to the lives of policy beneficiaries.

Furthermore, it is necessary to promote socialization and mobilize the broad participation of organizations, individuals, and communities in the care of people with meritorious service; and to foster a spirit of responsibility and compassion in humanitarian activities and acts of gratitude.

Continue to widely spread the "Gratitude and Repayment" movement, creating a joint effort of the entire political system and society in caring for families entitled to preferential policies; paying special attention to providing thoughtful care for the surviving Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the beautiful tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source" of the nation.
