Part 2: Putting Ho Chi Minh's teachings into action.
Part 3: Many effective models and methods emerge.
Through studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh , each cadre, Party member, and citizen in Dong Thap province has been raising awareness, upholding a sense of responsibility to the community, and being dedicated in every action. Their actions, though simple and unassuming in everyday life, have an incredibly powerful ripple effect, contributing to profound inspiration and illuminating noble human values throughout society.
RESPONSIBILITY TO THE COMMUNITY
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once advised: "Every good person, every good deed is a beautiful flower, and our entire nation is a beautiful forest of flowers." Imbued with this profound teaching, on the land of the Lotus, the spirit of responsibility to the community has become a way of life and a guiding principle for the actions of many individuals.

When mentioning the beautiful flowers in the garden of learning from Uncle Ho in Dong Thap , everyone knows Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Thia, often affectionately called Aunt Six Thia (67 years old, residing in Phuong Thinh commune).
At an age when she should be enjoying a peaceful life with her children and grandchildren, she still diligently works every day with a stack of lottery tickets in her hand, carefully saving every penny to make ends meet. However, what earns her everyone's respect is her journey of over 23 years of teaching swimming for free to thousands of children in the Mekong Delta region.
Driven by deep compassion for the tragic drowning accidents involving young children during each flood season, Ms. Sau Thia personally waded through the water to teach children each swimming technique. For over two decades, Ms. Sau Thia has absolutely refused to accept any tuition fees or compensation from parents.
"I saw so many cases of children drowning on TV, it broke my heart. I just want to teach them to swim so they can protect themselves; I have no other ulterior motive," Ms. Sau Thia confided in her genuine voice, full of the love for the waterways of the Mekong Delta.
In Dong Thap, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style is no longer just dry slogans or theories, but has deeply permeated and vividly embodied every aspect of social life. Their noble actions have the power to touch people's hearts and inspire each of us to reflect on ourselves, live better, and be more responsible. It is these ordinary people who are contributing daily to building a civilized and compassionate society, making the land of the lotus increasingly prosperous and beautiful. |
In recognition of these significant contributions, in 2020, Ms. Sau Thia was honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal from the President of Vietnam , a highly prestigious award from the Party and State for an ordinary citizen.
In 2021, Forbes Vietnam magazine named her among the 20 most inspiring women. Ms. Sau Thia's journey is the most vivid proof of learning from President Ho Chi Minh's boundless compassion and selflessness.
While Ms. Sau Thia protected children from the floodwaters, Mr. Huynh Thanh Thuong (30 years old, residing in An Thanh Thuy commune) chose to donate his blood to save the lives of critically ill patients.
Having started donating blood in 2014, Thuong donates blood an average of four times a year. For him, every drop of blood given is not only a noble act, but a command from the heart.
There were nights when everyone was asleep, or when he was in the middle of work, but as soon as he received information about an emergency needing a rare blood type, he would immediately set off. To date, he has donated blood and platelets 44 times, a number that would impress anyone.
Among those instances, seven times he donated blood unexpectedly to save lives in critical condition meant seven times he was racing against time to snatch patients back from the clutches of death.
For Mr. Thuong, studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology is not about doing something grand, but stems from dedication, love for humanity, and a willingness to commit oneself.
Inspired by his teachings, "Even the smallest good deed should be done," he has always pondered how to connect compassionate hearts among young people and students.
Driven by this concern, he collaborated in establishing the "Drop of Loving Blood" Club, transforming it into a "living blood bank." From an initial club with only 9 members, that number has now grown to over 2,000.
The coordinated blood donation drive resulted in over 4,000 participants donating blood, collecting more than 2,500 valuable units of blood. Thanks to smooth coordination and a high sense of responsibility, the Club was able to promptly support hospitals in the most urgent situations.
Another inspiring example is Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tam (39 years old), a teacher at Thien Ho Duong High School (Cao Lanh ward).
Once a healthy, enthusiastic young teacher, tragedy struck in 2009 when a serious traffic accident while she was out encouraging students to attend class took away a part of her body, leaving her disabled. Despite the physical pain and emotional distress, she refused to surrender to fate with extraordinary willpower.
She stepped onto the podium again with a prosthetic leg and a heart warmer than before. Aware of the pain of disability, in 2015, with the motto "Joining hands to inspire generations of young people in Dong Thap to strive together in learning, working, and participating in charitable activities," teacher Tam founded the Nhat Tam group.
The initial goal was to provide scholarships for underprivileged students, but over time, the scale and reach of the Nhat Tam group's charitable efforts have expanded significantly.
To date, the Nhat Tam group has raised over 7 billion VND to carry out numerous social welfare activities. The group has built houses for underprivileged students who excel academically; and connected with prestigious scholarship programs such as "Lighting Up Hope" to award scholarships to diligent students.
DEDICATED TO THE PEOPLE
Following President Ho Chi Minh's example of a people-oriented and grassroots-focused approach, many cadres and Party members in Dong Thap have chosen to immerse themselves in the lives of the people, listening to and addressing their legitimate concerns and aspirations, even the smallest ones.

The image of dedicated officials is increasingly enhancing the close relationship between the Party and the people.
In Dao Thanh ward, residents have long been familiar with the image of a petite but agile woman, always busy with community work. That is Comrade Nguyen Thi Loan, Party Branch Secretary and Head of Neighborhood 13.
Having been involved in grassroots work since 2011, for many years, the comrade's quiet footsteps have left their mark throughout the small alleys, bringing peace and warmth to every home.
What made Comrade Loan stand out and built her reputation was her dedication to fulfilling political duties, especially in managing and supporting people reintegrating into the community and caring for social welfare. "Everyone has the right to correct their mistakes, as long as they are determined to get back on their feet."
"Therefore, I proactively coordinate with the ward police force, understand the circumstances of each case, persistently approach them, and find appropriate ways to help," Comrade Loan shared about her working method.
The sincerity and patient, persistent efforts of the female Party Branch Secretary have helped many misguided individuals overcome their feelings of shame, open their hearts to sharing, and regain faith to rebuild their lives.
As the head of the "New Life" Club, Comrade Loan did not stop at mere words of encouragement.
Comrade [Name], along with the Steering Committee, sought every means to support members in career transitions, connecting them with stable jobs, and also vouched for and accessed preferential loan sources to help them develop their family economies.
Since then, many sustainable livelihood models have emerged, helping those who have made mistakes to have a stable income and stay away from social vices.
In addition, Comrade Loan proactively campaigned for the launch of the "Intergenerational Self-Help Club" model - a place where members can support, share, and accompany each other in life when times are tough.
"To do a good job at the grassroots level, you must be close to the people, understand them, and wholeheartedly serve them. From the smallest tasks in the neighborhood, I always choose to get closer to the people, listen more, and understand them more deeply so that I can provide support at the right time and according to their needs," Comrade Loan summarized her valuable experience.
