Exhibition "The wave of protests against the unjust war waged by the United States in Vietnam"

Việt NamViệt Nam05/08/2023

On the afternoon of August 4th, at the Hue Imperial Citadel, the Thua Thien - Hue History Museum, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City War Remnants Museum, organized a thematic exhibition titled "The Wave of Protests Against the Unjust War of the United States in Vietnam".

Viewers listen to an introduction to the exhibition "The wave of protests against the unjust war waged by the United States in Vietnam".

The thematic exhibition features over 80 images, documents, and more than 100 representative artifacts, presented through five sections: Introducing anti-war activities; Marches and demonstrations; Activities refusing to participate in the war; Unmasking war crimes; and American veterans' efforts in healing the wounds of war.

During the Vietnamese people's resistance war against the American imperialist invasion, another war was raging within the United States itself: the anti-war movement, led by progressive American citizens, protested against American intervention in Vietnam. This movement was powerful throughout the United States, attracting young people and American soldiers, with many demonstrations being violently suppressed. The anti-war movement, a wave of peace and support for Vietnam, spread not only within the United States but also to many other countries, contributing to the ultimate victory of the just resistance war of the Vietnamese people.

Through this thematic exhibition, the Organizing Committee aims to convey a meaningful message about peace to viewers; at the same time, it clearly depicts some forms of struggle that American soldiers and veterans used in the movement against the American war of aggression in Vietnam. The exhibition also affirms the current Vietnam-US relationship, which is increasingly developing in many fields, with cultural exchanges between the people of the two countries, and the process of overcoming the consequences of war…

The thematic exhibition "The wave of protests against the unjust war waged by the US in Vietnam" runs until September 30th.
