China's National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, in coordination with the Ministry of Emergency Management, convened an inter-agency meeting to assess weather developments and coordinate relief efforts in heavily affected areas, including Anhui, Jiangsu, and Henan. Forecasting agencies warned that widespread heavy rainfall would continue until at least May 28th in southern China. Authorities urged increased monitoring, particularly during nighttime rains, and ensured that early warnings were promptly disseminated to villages and households.
Local authorities have also been instructed to step up patrols at reservoirs, dikes, and riverside infrastructure, and to be ready to deploy emergency repairs as soon as any signs of safety hazards appear.
