This year, in order to share the difficulties and losses that children in the northern provinces have just experienced due to the impact of typhoon No. 3, localities did not organize cultural performances or festivals on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, but instead organized gift-giving for children with difficult circumstances, with the spirit of supporting children in difficult circumstances and encouraging them to be well-behaved and excel in their studies.

Representatives from the Economic Police Department and the Provincial Police Hospital presented gifts to underprivileged children in Lam Thao district on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
This year, the Lam Thao District Youth Union, in coordination with the Economic Police Department, the Provincial Police Hospital, the Lam Thao District Police, and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank), donated 130 gifts worth a total of 61 million VND to 130 disadvantaged children in the district.
At the Tứ Xã commune headquarters, the children arrived early. Dressed neatly in their uniforms and red scarves, they sat orderly, waiting for their names to be called to receive gifts. For these children living in poverty and facing difficult family circumstances, such gifts are incredibly meaningful.
Clutching the gift packages with reverence and care, Nguyen Minh Nhat, from Zone 7, Tu Xa commune, excitedly said: “This year, I received many gifts from the kind people. I will take them home and share them with my parents and siblings.” Each gift package included cash, cakes, candies, milk, etc. The monetary value may not be much, but it encapsulates the heartfelt generosity of the sponsors, organizations, and youth union members towards the children.

The Lam Thao District Youth Union presented Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to Tran Lan Anh, a disabled child, in Zone 13, Son Vi Commune, Lam Thao District.
After finishing the gift-giving at the People's Committees of the communes, the Lam Thao District Youth Union, together with the Son Vi Commune Youth Union, brought the gifts to disabled children from disadvantaged backgrounds who were unable to come and receive them in person. For 10 years, Tran Lan Anh, from Zone 13, Son Vi Commune, has lived with cerebral palsy and congenital heart disease. Instead of going to school like her peers, she is practically confined to her bed, unable to take care of herself.
Receiving gifts from the youth union officials, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Lan Anh's mother, could not hide her emotion: "On behalf of Lan Anh, my family would like to thank the organizations for their concern, which has given her a complete and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival, easing some of her sadness and hardship."
Comrade Cao Xuan Huy, Secretary of the Lam Thao District Youth Union, said: “The Lam Thao District Youth Union is implementing the general policy of not organizing Mid-Autumn Festival activities on a ward or commune scale, but we still organize gift-giving for disadvantaged children in the district. We hope these small gifts will give them more motivation to overcome their circumstances, be well-behaved, and excel in their studies.”
Perhaps going for a check-up on the Mid-Autumn Festival isn't a pleasant experience for children and their families. Understanding this, from early morning, the Youth Union of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was stationed at the reception area to give young patients small, cute gifts. A twinkling rabbit lantern, animal-shaped mooncakes, candy packets, or a box of milk would surely delight the children.

The Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital gave gifts to child patients who came for check-ups on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Anh from Phong Chau town, Phu Ninh district, said: “The gift-giving activity for child patients at the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is very meaningful. It makes families feel that their children are cared for and receive encouragement to overcome their illnesses.”
In his letter to children and teenagers on the occasion of the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival, General Secretary and President To Lam conveyed the following message: “This year's Mid-Autumn Festival cannot be complete because natural disasters have caused severe consequences for many families, villages, hamlets, and communes. Many children have unfortunately lost their lives, many have lost loved ones and homes, and are living in extremely difficult circumstances. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the relatives and families of the children who are victims of the storms and floods, and I hope that all of us will bravely overcome this pain and loss.”

The Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital gave gifts to child patients who came for check-ups on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
To the children in areas affected by storms and floods, Uncle Ho advised them to always pay attention to safety while studying and playing. He urged them to stay away from dangerous places, not to play near rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes, and to always remember the words of their parents and teachers to protect themselves and their friends.
Not only Lam Thao district and the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, but also localities, organizations, and associations throughout the province have been, are, and will continue to carry out many activities, dedicating much love and devoted care to the young generation, the future owners of the country. The children of the Ancestral Land promise to always be well-behaved, healthy, studious, diligent, compassionate, and ambitious; to diligently follow the five teachings of Uncle Ho for children and young people; to always be good students and good children; and to strive to become the pride of their families, clans, and nation.
