An unusually hot weather is gripping the eastern United States, forcing people to find various ways to cope with the intense and prolonged heat.
Sarah Conway, a Philadelphia resident, said the weather that day was uncomfortably hot and humid, forcing her family to seek refuge at Love Park. At home, they also had to keep the air conditioning running constantly and at a high setting to maintain a more comfortable living space amidst the sweltering heat.

Sharing a similar experience, Lauren Arthur, another Philadelphia resident, said the heatwave arrived earlier than expected, significantly impacting her family's life. She expressed concern about the increased electricity costs due to frequent air conditioning use, but because she has young children, she prioritizes keeping the house cool to ensure their health and prevent the risk of fever or heatstroke during these extreme weather days.
On May 20th, the Philadelphia Department of Education switched students from 57 schools to online learning, citing the reason that many facilities still lacked adequate air conditioning systems.
