In 2025, due to the influence of the circulation of typhoons No. 3, 5, 10, and 11, which caused prolonged heavy rain, Tuong Ha commune suffered damage to 13.07 hectares of rice fields; many roads were severely damaged by landslides; and 22 households with 98 people had to be urgently relocated to safe areas. Recognizing that disaster prevention and control must be implemented early, Tuong Ha commune directed specialized departments to coordinate with villages to review vulnerable areas and invest in preventive infrastructure; promoting the role of villages, mass organizations, and the participation of the people in reviewing, detecting, and addressing areas at risk of insecurity.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Tuong Ha commune, said: The entire commune currently has more than 57 km of inter-commune and inter-village roads; many routes pass through hilly and mountainous areas, along streams, posing a high risk of landslides during the rainy season. The commune has reviewed and compiled a list of vulnerable areas in 22 villages; and developed response plans based on the "four on-the-spot" principle. Areas with a high risk of landslides, such as Tang Ca hill in Cha village; Cong Troi pass in Thin village; along the Tre, Lom, and Den streams... are all included in the monitoring plan, with plans for relocating residents when necessary. In addition, the commune has strengthened the Commune Civil Defense Command Board, with a projected mobilization force of up to 435 people in case of natural disasters.

These days, in the villages of Khoa 1, Khoa 2, Thin, Tat, Lien Hop, Dong La, Coc 1..., the people are voluntarily donating land and contributing labor to work with the local authorities on constructing embankment projects to prevent landslides, combined with internal village roads, ensuring completion before the rainy season and protecting dozens of hectares of rice and agricultural land.
Mr. Bac Muoi, Party Secretary and Head of Khoa 2 village, said: The village has 310 households, 1,559 inhabitants, and cultivates 70 hectares of rice fields along the Khoa stream. Initially, some households had concerns about the project's impact on their agricultural land. However, after a village meeting where the policy and objectives were discussed openly and transparently, the villagers all agreed, with each household contributing 100,000 VND; 100 households have donated 5,000 m² of land to complete the project.

As one of the households that donated the most land to expand the rural road and build an embankment to prevent landslides, Mr. Lo Van Thieng from Khoa 2 village shared: After being informed and having the risk of landslides and the long-term effectiveness of the project analyzed by commune officials and the village management board, his family agreed to donate more than 100 m² of garden land to have a convenient road and better protect the fields during the rainy season.
Since the beginning of the year, Tuong Ha commune has provided 950 steel gabions, totaling 360 million VND, to 7 villages to reinforce areas at high risk of landslides. Many projects serve both disaster prevention and mitigation purposes and contribute to improving rural infrastructure, such as the landslide prevention embankment in Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 2. After completion, these embankments were combined into internal field roads, facilitating the transportation of agricultural products and reducing the risk of soil and rocks sliding into fields during heavy rains.
Tuong Ha commune is meticulously preparing for disaster prevention and control, both early and in advance, with the determination to minimize damage and ensure the safety of people's lives and property when the rainy and stormy season arrives.
