According to VNA correspondents in South Asia, last weekend, the Vietnamese Embassies in India and Sri Lanka busily organized Mid-Autumn Festival activities with colorful lanterns and folk games, attracting hundreds of teenagers and children to participate.

In the cozy grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi, officials and their wives spent many days meticulously preparing for this important event for the children, from hanging flags, decorating lanterns, setting up stages, designing folk games, composing puzzles to preparing moon cakes and wrapping gifts.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai personally handed the children meaningful gifts, wishing them good health, good study and to continue to preserve and spread the beauty of Mid-Autumn Festival culture - a fine tradition of the Vietnamese people.

The Ambassador also took souvenir photos with the children, capturing the joyful and warm moments in the reunion atmosphere of the Vietnamese community in India.

On this occasion, representatives of Vietnam Airlines Office in India also sent gifts and wishes for a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival to the children, contributing to making the festival warmer and more meaningful.

The cooperation of Vietnamese agencies and businesses in India has demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and sharing within the Vietnamese community, while spreading the beauty of the nation's traditional culture to international friends.

After the gift giving, the children enthusiastically participated in a series of fun and warm activities, spreading the spirit of solidarity and joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival, from art performances, quizzes and prizes to colorful lantern parades.

Coinciding with this time, about 2,500km from New Delhi, at Truc Lam Zen Monastery, the first Vietnamese pagoda located in Ambakote, Central Sri Lanka, the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka coordinated with Truc Lam Zen Monastery and the community to organize the program "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2025" for more than 100 Sri Lankan and Vietnamese teenagers and children.

This is the first time the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka has organized the Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing a bustling atmosphere and unique cultural experiences to children, while contributing to strengthening friendship and promoting people-to-people exchange on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1970-2025).

At the ceremony, Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam said that the fact that Vietnam's Mid-Autumn Festival was held on the same occasion as Sri Lanka's celebration of World Children's Day on October 1 further highlighted the similarities between the two countries in their love, care and concern for the young generation - the future owners of the two countries.

The Ambassador emphasized the meaning of reunion, family and solidarity of the Mid-Autumn Festival, expressing his belief that introducing this special cultural feature of the Vietnamese people will help Sri Lankan people better understand the country and people of Vietnam, especially the care they show for children.

Vice President of the National Assembly Rizvie Salih expressed his happiness at attending a festival imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity; affirming that the event is a vivid demonstration of the increasingly close, trusting and cooperative relationship between the two countries.

He emphasized that children of the two countries enjoying the Mid-Autumn Festival together, singing and participating in traditional games is a bright symbol of friendship, solidarity, as well as hope for a peaceful, prosperous and long-term cooperative future between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

During the ceremony, the children enthusiastically participated in competitions such as making lanterns, decorating fruit trays and creating artistic fruit shapes. Children from both countries were divided into teams and created and competed enthusiastically, thereby connecting innocent friendships and creating many interesting works, reflecting the cultures of both nations.

In the campus brightly lit with lanterns and flags, Sri Lankan children confidently performed with their Vietnamese friends special songs and dances, from the traditional lion dance to familiar songs such as "Star Lantern", "Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Procession", "Bong bong bang bang", "Joining Hands", expressing the spirit of borderless connection of the two nations' childhoods, making the space of the Zen Monastery bustling and emotional.

In particular, the appearance of Hang and Cuoi brought the audience back to the magical fairy tale world of the Full Moon night.

At the end of the ceremony, Vice President of the National Assembly Rizvie Salih, Governor of Central Province Sarath Abeyakoon, Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam and Abbot of Truc Lam Zen Monastery, Venerable Thich Phap Quang, awarded prizes for two competitions in making lanterns and decorating fruit trays, and presented gifts to students with excellent achievements in learning Vietnamese and actively participating in activities of Truc Lam Zen Monastery and the Embassy.

At the end of the program, delegates, parents and children enjoyed the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival with moon cakes, candies and fruits.

This is not only a sweet party for children but also a moment of reunion, evoking the spirit of the Vietnamese homeland in the hearts of the overseas community./.
