On the morning of September 18th, the Foreign Trade University held its opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year, and awarded prizes to the top-scoring students in the 2024 entrance exam and outstanding students and trainees of the 2023-2024 academic year.
At the opening ceremony, after the flag-raising ceremony and singing the national anthem, faculty, staff, and students observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the soldiers and civilians who lost their lives due to the effects of Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi ).
The most significant difference this year is that, instead of congratulatory flower arrangements, the school is providing QR codes from the Central Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front so that delegates, teachers, and students can proactively contribute to helping people in localities severely affected by natural disasters and floods.

This flower arrangement is permanently placed on the school grounds to spread a spirit of community service.
Previously, the school had sent messages to partners and publicly announced that flowers would not be accepted at the opening ceremony.
"To express our solidarity and compassion towards our compatriots in localities that have suffered and are still suffering the severe consequences of natural disasters and floods caused by Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi), the Foreign Trade University respectfully requests not to accept congratulatory flowers from individuals, organizations, businesses, and partners on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year on September 18, 2024 at the Hanoi Headquarters," the announcement stated.
Instead, the Foreign Trade University hopes that the congratulatory wishes of individuals, organizations, businesses, and partners can be transformed into contributions to support relief movements/funds for overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods, as well as individuals/households in difficult circumstances in general, to make the ceremony even more meaningful.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Bui Anh Tuan, Rector of the Foreign Trade University, called on faculty, staff, and students to join hands for the community.
"I call upon all teachers, school staff, and students, including trainees and researchers, to participate in charitable activities, support those affected by natural disasters, and build a spirit of solidarity in the community."
"Every small action, every contribution we make can make a big difference. Each individual's ecosystem certainly contributes to building a stronger, more sustainable society," said Associate Professor Bui Anh Tuan.
According to the school principal, entering university is not only a significant milestone in their academic journey but also an opportunity for students to shape themselves, explore the world, and determine their future path.

This is the stage where children not only acquire knowledge from books, but also learn from real-life experiences, from those around them, and from themselves.
At the Foreign Trade University, students will meet many people, explore new fields, and try out wonderful things they never thought possible.
Therefore, be proactive, courageous, and challenge yourselves with new activities, clubs, and learning opportunities.
Don't be afraid of failure, because it is through failure that you will be led to greater success. Your student years are an opportunity to better understand yourself and clearly define your goals.
"The professor believes that the journey of self-discovery is inseparable from building a personal ecosystem; that is, a network of strong connections and relationships, which is key to success in learning and life."
Connections with teachers, friends, seniors, like-minded individuals, and experts in their areas of interest help students broaden their horizons and foster personal development.
Therefore, you should proactively connect with others, explore yourselves, and build your own ecosystem. Moreover, university is not only a place to cultivate knowledge, but also a place where you can contribute to and change the community around you.
"Participating in social activities, community projects, and volunteer movements is a way for students to commit themselves to helping others and enrich their learning experiences," the school principal advised.
The opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year at the Foreign Trade University this year was attended by more than 3,000 new students of the 63rd cohort, new students in joint training programs with foreign countries, part-time students, and international students studying at the main campus in Hanoi.
Previously, from August 27th to 30th, the Foreign Trade University organized a welcoming program for new students of cohort K63 at all three campuses nationwide, aiming to help new students quickly familiarize themselves with the living and learning environment at the university level.
