The school teaches resilience through every step the students take while running.

On the morning of April 25th, over 800 elementary school students from the Pathway Tuệ Đức school system in District 12 participated in the "Breakthrough Steps 2025" running program held in Thạnh Lộc ward, District 12. What's remarkable is not just the steps taken on the run, but also the lessons of perseverance and compassion instilled in these children from a young age.

The teachers and students of Pathway Tuệ Đức raised the flag high as they entered the race track.

Develop perseverance with every step you take.

Without the starting whistle of a professional race, and without a grand prize at the finish line, over 800 students were still enthusiastic, cheering along the way. The children, some still covered in sweat, others with tightly pursed lips, seemed to be competing against themselves.

The organizers divided the race into smaller segments of varying lengths, suitable for the children's fitness levels. Each segment of the race was not only a test of endurance but also an opportunity to practice perseverance, overcome fatigue, and dispel thoughts of giving up.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Duy, Head of the Organizing Committee of the program, shared: “We not only guide students on how to run and promote physical fitness and health, but also teach them to recognize the message: The important thing is not to give up, to strive to surpass your own limits. It's okay if you run slower than your friends; what matters is that you reach the finish line through your own efforts.”

Tuệ Đức Pathway students strive to complete their race.

Sow seeds of love through small actions.

Immediately after finishing the race, the students and their teachers participated in a small charitable activity: personally wrapping gifts and writing messages of well wishes for underprivileged children at the Beautiful Diamond Center and community learning centers in Tan Thoi Nhat and Thanh Loc wards, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. The sweets, milk cartons, comic books – these small gifts represented the heartfelt contributions from each and every child.

For the school, this is not just an outdoor sports program, but also a practical way to educate morally, teaching children compassion and giving through the simplest things. A representative from the Pathway School's Board of Directors shared: “The values we aim for, beyond academic achievement, include kindness, a loving heart, and the resilience to overcome challenges in each student. We believe that cultivating resilience and teaching morality from an early age will help children grow up to be kind and strong-willed individuals.”

Schools connect with the community.

Beyond its internal scope, the program also serves as a bridge between the school and the District 12 Youth Council and other primary schools in the area. This is considered the starting point for coordinated activities, exchanges, and mutual support in extracurricular education for students.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Thanh Loc Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “We highly appreciate the humanitarian significance of the 'Breakthrough Steps 2025' program organized by Pathway Tue Duc School. Not only does it contribute to raising awareness about physical health among students, but it also spreads positive values, a spirit of sharing, and social responsibility within the community. The connection between the school, students, and local people through such a charitable activity is a beautiful model in comprehensive education. Especially, this year's program, held close to the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), further deepens the spirit of sports training and health improvement for the younger generation. The local government is always ready to support and create conditions for such programs to continue to be maintained, developed, and expanded in the future.”

Education from real life

In the hustle and bustle of life, balancing work and raising children is quite challenging for many parents today, so enrolling children in extracurricular activities like this is not easy. However, from these small steps on the short running track, the children are developing resilience, learning to share, and valuing their own health.

The "Breakthrough Steps 2025" program is proof that education is not just confined to the classroom, but must also extend to real life, so that children learn to live with kindness and resilience from the simplest things.
