Upon completion of the program, they receive an equivalent certificate from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and a regular medical doctor degree from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

In addition to candidates admitted directly according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the school still maintains the admission method based on the results of the high school graduation exam with the B00 combination (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry).
The general admission requirement for all majors is a conduct rating of "good" or higher in the 12th grade. For Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry, candidates must have an average GPA of 7 or higher across all five semesters of high school (excluding the second semester of 12th grade). For Optometry, the English score on the high school graduation exam must be 7 or higher.
If candidates have the same total admission score, the school will use supplementary criteria for selection, in the following order: foreign language graduation exam score; 12th grade average score; and literature graduation exam score.

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is a fully autonomous public university under the direct management of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. In 2022, the university's admission scores ranged from 18.01 to 26.65 points.
The health sector is experiencing the sharpest tuition fee increase according to Government Decree 81. Accordingly, the tuition fee ceiling for medical and pharmaceutical programs at public universities that are not yet self-sufficient (not autonomous) is set at 24.5-35 million VND per year, following a roadmap from now until the 2025-2026 academic year.
Public universities have become autonomous and are allowed to collect tuition fees at 2-2.5 times the above-mentioned ceiling. For training programs that have received quality accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Training or international accreditation, universities can independently determine tuition fees.
Currently, the record for medical tuition fees belongs to Hong Bang International University, with 250 million VND per year for the Dentistry program. Among public universities, following the Vietnamese-German Medical program at Pham Ngoc Thach University is the Dentistry program at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh City, with a tuition fee of 77 million VND per year.
