We revisited the family of Danh Thi Ha Vy, residing in An Bien commune. In 2025, Vy's father suffered a stroke, leaving him paralyzed on one side. At that time, Vy was juggling school with caring for her father. Knowing Vy's situation, the An Bien Red Cross Society mobilized support for his treatment costs. Simultaneously, through the "Aspiration for Life" program, many charitable clubs, teams, and groups, as well as philanthropists both domestically and internationally, provided the family with over 90 million VND and many essential supplies.

After treatment, Vy's father was able to walk slowly around the house, while Vy continued her studies with the dream of becoming a preschool teacher. In a corner of the small house, the stack of medical records from the past is still carefully kept as a reminder of the difficult times her family went through. "Back then, I was afraid to drop out of school. Now that I see my father is healthier, I'm so happy. Thanks to the encouragement of my teachers, the Red Cross members in the commune, and benefactors, I have the motivation to continue going to school," Vy shared.

Recently, the An Bien Commune Red Cross Society promptly connected with and provided support to Mr. Duong Van Teo, a resident of Hamlet 3, who had suffered an accident. Mr. Teo, a hired laborer, unfortunately fell and injured his spine, rendering him unable to work. Without health insurance, he was confined to his home for a long time, causing muscle atrophy and ulceration of his wounds. Upon learning of his situation, the commune's Red Cross Society appealed to benefactors for assistance. In just one day of fundraising, over 15 million VND was sent to help cover his hospital fees. Members of the society visited him in the hospital to offer support and encouragement during his most difficult time. Lying in his hospital bed, his face still showing signs of fatigue, Mr. Teo expressed: “These past few days, I’ve been bedridden, and sometimes I thought I would just have to endure it because I didn’t have the money for treatment. I am so grateful for the care and help from the commune's Red Cross Society and benefactors regarding my hospital fees.”

Such stories are not uncommon in An Bien commune. Many trips by members of the commune's Red Cross Society begin with an urgent phone call, a Facebook post, or a message from neighbors. From this information, humanitarian workers connect with benefactors to provide timely assistance to those in need. In the first five months of 2026, the An Bien commune Red Cross Society mobilized over 500 million VND to support terminally ill patients, elderly people living alone, poor but studious students, and other urgent cases of hardship; donated three water filters to schools, established a "Zero-Cost Shop," and sent dozens of essential goods packages to people in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Truong Thanh Nha, representative of the An Bien Commune Red Cross Society, the most difficult aspect of humanitarian work is not only finding sources of support but also going to the affected areas to listen, verify, and help the right people in the right circumstances. Most Red Cross officials hold multiple positions, but whenever they hear about someone seriously ill, an accident, a house fire, or a student facing the risk of dropping out of school due to poverty, they rush to the area to investigate.

To build trust with donors, all fundraising activities are meticulously documented, updated, and publicly disclosed on social media. From the amount received to the images of the donations, everything is transparent. This transparency has helped the association's appeals gain the support of many benefactors near and far, allowing the bridges of compassion in An Bien to continue to be extended.
