England manager Thomas Tuchel has stated he will not rotate his squad to appease clubs, despite the season entering a crucial stage.

The German strategist affirmed that his biggest goal during this training camp is to raise the standard of play, especially ahead of the World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Latvia on the morning of March 25th. According to Tuchel, rotating the squad to "show favoritism" to players not only sends the wrong message to the team but also goes against the spirit of competition and professionalism.

Although he has previously agreed with Pep Guardiola's views, particularly when managing Chelsea, Tuchel stated that he prioritizes the national team above all else. Just as Guardiola was unhappy when John Stones suffered an injury after playing in both of England's friendly matches last year, Tuchel understands the sensitive nature of the relationship between club and national team. However, he insisted there would be no special treatment.

“Arsenal started Declan Rice in the second leg against PSV despite winning 7-1 in the first leg. So I don’t think clubs are too concerned about helping England rest their players,” Tuchel told the Guardian . “I have no reason to think otherwise. We will monitor their fitness, contact the clubs, but that doesn’t mean we’ll do anything differently. We’re not taking risks, but we’re not doing anything unprofessional either.”

Tuchel also emphasized that responsibility towards the players is the most important factor: "I don't want anyone to get injured. I want them to be healthy to play in the Champions League quarter-finals. We take care of them, and so do the clubs. But above all, we are all for the players."

The biggest headache for Tuchel right now is finding balance in the attack. With a host of stars playing in the number 10 position, he is forced to make difficult choices and there may even be some big names left out if England qualify for the World Cup.

"You can't have too many number 10s in the same lineup," he admitted. "It's not just about beating Latvia, but about how you beat them. The deployment, the standards of play, controlling the game are what I care about. If I have to drop a few standout names to find the most suitable team, I will do so."
