Young people celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

To practically commemorate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), all levels of the Youth Union, its members, and young people throughout the province have been implementing many practical and meaningful movements and activities, bearing the distinct mark of youth.

Throughout May, the youth of An Giang province simultaneously implemented meaningful projects and activities, reporting their achievements to President Ho Chi Minh, with a total expenditure of over 2.1 billion VND. Accordingly, the Provincial Youth Union organized the "Tree Planting Festival - Forever Remembering President Ho Chi Minh"; commenced construction of the Hope Bridge; inaugurated the "Lighting Up Rural Roads" solar-powered streetlighting project; planted 20,000 new trees; and presented gifts to young workers in difficult circumstances. The unit also implemented rural road construction and green space creation; organized the Young Doctors' Day following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings; and carried out the construction of "Houses of Compassion," visiting Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families of policy beneficiaries.

Along with practical tasks and projects, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union intensified the organization of activities to propagate and educate on revolutionary ideals in cyberspace, attracting millions of views and interactions with the #hoabinhdeplam trend. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union organized a mass formation of the national flag, the Party flag, and a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh at An Giang University, with the participation of over 1,000 union members and young people.

Many practical projects and activities were undertaken to celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

Amidst the province's determination to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing, the youth actively cooperate and participate in supporting house construction. The Provincial Youth Union focuses on disseminating information, raising awareness, and promoting communication about the purpose and significance of the housing elimination campaign; integrating it into branch meetings and local youth gatherings. Simultaneously, they share inspiring stories and exemplary individuals and groups to inspire a sense of responsibility and mutual support within the community.

The Provincial Youth Union calls on its members, youth, and organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to join hands in contributing both financially and in kind. Donations are flexible, following the principle of "Those who have little contribute little, those who have much contribute much." They are also establishing and maintaining volunteer youth teams (currently 155 teams, with 7-12 members per team) ready to contribute their labor to the construction and repair of dilapidated houses.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union paid close attention to coordinating with Party committees, the government, and relevant departments to closely follow the directives of the Provincial Steering Committee, reviewing the correct beneficiaries, proactively implementing construction, and avoiding fragmentation and overlap. Youth Union officials took turns visiting the grassroots level to inspect, supervise progress, and promptly resolve difficulties. As a result, during Youth Month, the Youth Union throughout the province built 43 new houses and repaired 7 houses, with a total cost of over 2.6 billion VND, attracting over 700 Youth Union members and young people to contribute 9,000 man-days of labor.

“To achieve these impressive results, alongside the above solutions, the Provincial Youth Union focused on effectively mobilizing the masses; ensuring transparency and timely rewards. We organized visits to encourage volunteers, and commended outstanding contributions from groups and individuals. Through house-building activities, the Provincial Youth Union encouraged local people to work together to repair, maintain, and preserve their homes. On the other hand, we connected with vocational training units, creating opportunities for long-term employment, helping people stabilize their lives and avoid falling back into poverty,” shared Do Minh Sang, Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Youth Union.

Thanks to proactive and decisive organization, coordination, and supervision, along with the solidarity of youth and the entire society, the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in An Giang not only provides sturdy homes for the people but also strongly fosters a spirit of sharing and mutual support within the community. Each new home means a poor household has a stable place to live; each bridge and road equipped with streetlights narrows the gap between rural and urban areas and improves traffic safety and the environment.

Youth union members and young people have demonstrated a pioneering spirit, always proving themselves worthy as a leading force for the community, creating meaningful projects for society. This is also an opportunity for young people to affirm their readiness to overcome difficulties for the community, contributing to building a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized An Giang province.
