In Dien Bien province,FPT has tested unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to support the transportation of agricultural products, monitor crops, control diseases, manage forests, and handle logistics in areas with complex terrain.
According to reports, UAVs can shorten spraying time from 4 hours to 10 minutes/hectare, increase seed sowing and fertilizer application productivity from 0.5-1 hectare/person/day to 40-64 hectares/day in areas difficult to access by humans. UAVs also help reduce logistics costs in agricultural product transportation by about 40%. According to FPT's simulations on an area of over 51,000 hectares with key crops such as rice, coffee, macadamia nuts, and Shan Tuyet tea, the application of UAVs can help reduce cultivation costs by 15%-20%, save about 62 million cubic meters of water annually, and reduce labor costs by 30%. At the same time, people's income is expected to increase by 9-18 million VND/hectare/year, contributing an additional 2,630 billion VND to the province's GRDP each year. Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Low Level Economic Alliance (LEAP) and CEO of FPT Group, stated that FPT is coming to Dien Bien with the low level economic alliance, bringing together Vietnamese businesses with capabilities in science, technology, and drones. The alliance aims to connect research, design, production, testing, and practical application capabilities, thereby building low-level economic models suitable for mountainous, highland, and border regions.
