AI applications in manufacturing: a driving force for innovation and development.

NDO - Artificial intelligence (AI) is ushering in a major turning point in the manufacturing industry, helping businesses optimize processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs. However, the deployment of this technology in Vietnam still faces many challenges, from data infrastructure and human resources to initial investment costs.

This was the view shared by experts at the seminar "Application of AI in Manufacturing: A Driving Force for Innovation and Development" organized by the Industry and Trade Magazine on March 31st in Hanoi .

According to Mr. Hoang Ninh, Deputy Director of the E-commerce and Digital Economy Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade , one of the outstanding applications of AI in manufacturing is predictive maintenance, helping businesses identify potential machine failures early and minimize production disruptions. In addition, AI is also being strongly applied in product quality control with higher accuracy than humans.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has actively and proactively invited leading enterprises in the Industry 4.0 and AI revolution, such as Siemens, Samsung, and Toyota, to organize training conferences and courses for businesses in the industry to strengthen human resources; promote and encourage businesses in the industry to apply scientific and technological advancements, especially AI, in production; and strengthen international cooperation in the application of science and technology to leverage the experience of foreign corporations, businesses, and governments with advantages, thereby applying and promoting them in the industry and trade sector.

Mr. Hoang Ninh also stated that the application of AI in manufacturing in Vietnam is becoming increasingly common, helping businesses improve productivity, optimize processes, and minimize waste. Several industries and sectors in industry and commerce have successfully applied AI.

However, deploying AI requires businesses to make substantial investments in data infrastructure and personnel training, while resources are limited. Experts recommend supportive policies from the government, as well as increased cooperation between businesses and technology organizations, to maximize the potential of AI in manufacturing.

Despite the many challenges, AI is still considered a key factor in helping Vietnam's manufacturing sector achieve breakthroughs during the digital transformation era.
